  1. 21. Characterization of artificial and biological lipid vesicles using TIRF and SPR

    Författare :Thomas Olsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; membrane permeability; chromaffin vesicle; fluorescence; total internal reflection TIRF microscopy; surface plasmon resonance SPR ; vesicle; osmotic shock; cell membrane; liposome; nanoparticle tracking analysis NTA ; large dense core vesicles LDCVs ;

    Sammanfattning : Synthetic lipid vesicles serve as important mimics of cells and the natural membranes that they are enclosed by. As such they are frequently used as simplified models of the highly complex cell membrane to aid in-depth physicochemical and biological characterization of this essential biological structure. 2. 22. Milk Membrane Lipids - Dispersions, Emulsions and Interactions with Proteins

    Författare :Rianne Waninge; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Food and drink technology; Model milk membrane lipids; Emulsions; Vesicles; Cryo-TEM; Milk fat globule membrane; MFGM; Livsmedelsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Milk is a dilute aqueous dispersion with a complex mixture of proteins, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. Milk membrane lipids are a part of the milk fat globule membrane (MFGM), which covers the fat globules. During dairy processing membrane material is released and surface structure features are altered. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Biophysical Studies of Apolipoprotein A-IM and a Partitioning study

    Författare :Malin Suurkuusk; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Apolipoprotein A-IMilano; Apolipoprotein A-I; Lipoprotein; Lipid; Microcalorimetry; DCS; Denaturation; Guanidine Hydrochloride; Physics; Fysik; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The major part of this thesis deals with the similarities and differences in some biophysical properties of apolipoprotein A-I (apo A-I) and the molecular variant apolipoprotein A-IMilano (apo A-IM), and the influence on lipid binding. A model compound partitioning study has also been performed. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Reaction and Diffusion Phenomena in Biomimetic Nanoscale Reactors and Networks

    Författare :Kristin Sott; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; artificial cell; restricted geometries.; enzymatic reactions; micromanipulation; biomimetic; nanotubes; diffusion; Vesicles; networks; liposomes;

    Sammanfattning : Methods for construction of geometrically complex, fully connected surface-immobilized microscopic networks of phospholipid bilayer vesicles (1-50 µm in diameter) interconnected by lipid nanotubes (100-300 nm in diameter), have been developed. The networks have controlled connectivity and are well-defined with regard to the container size, content, angle between nanotube extensions, and nanotube length. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The interplay between lipids and membrane proteins is known to affect membrane protein topology and thus have significant effect (control) on their functions. In this PhD thesis, the influence of lipids on the membrane protein function was studied using three different membrane protein models. LÄS MER
