  1. 16. A measurement approach to determination of coating thickness with eddy currents and to a capacitive person detector for robot safety

    Författare :Lennart Båvall; Keijo Nikoskinen; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : The research presented in this thesis is about coating thickness measurements using eddy currents, and a capacitive detector for detecting humans, for safety in industry.A method for determination of coating thickness of a copper-plated steel wire by measurement of the internal wire impedance, when this is forced by a constant, sinusoidal current, is presented. 2. 17. Explicit algebraic turbulence modelling in buoyancy-affected shear flows

    Författare :Werner Lazeroms; Arne Johansson; Antti Hellsten; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Turbulent flows affected by buoyancy forces occur in a large amount of applica-tions, from heat transfer in industrial settings to the effects of stratification inEarth’s atmosphere. The two-way coupling between the Reynolds stresses andthe turbulent heat flux present in these flows poses a challenge in the searchfor an appropriate turbulence model. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Modelling of Terahertz Planar Schottky Diodes

    Författare :Aik-Yean Tang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; S-parameter extraction; Electro-thermal; Schottky diodes; Skin effect; Electromagnetic; Frequency multipliers; High-power frequency multiplier; Current crowding; Proximity effect; Submillimetre wave generation and detection; Geometric modelling; Gallium Arsenide;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the modelling of THz planar Schottky diodes, focusing on analyses of the geometry- dependent parasitics and the diode chip thermal management. Moving towards higher operating frequencies, the electromagnetic couplings pose significant limitations on the diode performance. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Numerical Simulations for Studies of Unsteady Combustion in Practical Combustion Devices

    Författare :Sven-Inge Möller; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; plasmas; fluiddynamik; Gaser; plasma; Thermal engineering; applied thermodynamics; termodynamik; Termisk teknik; fluid dynamics; Gases; Physics; Fysik; Fysicumarkivet A:2002:Möller;

    Sammanfattning : A major problem in the design of combustion equipment is to prevent the occurrence of combustion instabilities. Combustion instabilities appear as periodic oscillations in pressure and heat release through a feedback mechanism between the fluid dynamics and the combustion process. These oscillations may induce e.g. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Thermo-Elasto-Hydrodynamic lubrication modeling of Tilting Pad Journal Bearings

    Författare :Philip Croné; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Machine Elements; Maskinelement;

    Sammanfattning : The journal bearing is a critical machine element typically used to support rotating motion in high speed machinery. Through the generation of a hydrodynamic pressure in its thin lubricant film,which is usually in the order of 10-100μmthick depending on the diameter of the journal itself, the bearing is able to withstand large loads, both statically and dynamically, while having a very low rate of wear.
