6. On Robust LPC-spectrum Coding and Vector Quantization
Sammanfattning : Digital speech coding is concerned with representing a discrete-time speech signal with as few bits per second as possible without introducing annoying artifacts in the coded speech. Many modern speech coders are based on Linear Predictive Coding (LPC) which employ a source-filter model for speech production. LÄS MER
7. Turbulence Modelling and Parallel Solver Development Relevant for Investigation of Gas Turbine Cooling Processes
Sammanfattning : To enhance the performance of gas turbine engines, high top-cycle temperatures are desired. However, the temperature is limited by current materials. LÄS MER
8. Lefschetz properties and Jordan types of Artinian algebras
Sammanfattning : This thesis contains six papers concerned with studying the Lefschetz properties and Jordan types of linear forms for graded Artinian algebras. Lefschetz properties and Jordan types carry information about the ranks of multiplication maps by linear forms on graded Artinian algebras. LÄS MER
9. Numerical Investigations of Turbulent Flow in Water Turbines
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates turbulent flow in water turbines, focusing onthe flow in the vicinity of reaction water turbine runners such as theKaplan runner and the Francis runner. The method of investigationis principally numerical although some experimental observations andmeasurements made in the present work and elsewhere are included. LÄS MER
10. Implementation and optimization of partial element equivalent circuit-based solver
Sammanfattning : The Partial Element Equivalent Circuit (PEEC) method is an integral equation based full-wave approach to solve combined circuit and electromagnetic problems in the time and frequency domain. Using PEEC, an electromagnetic problem is transferred to the circuit domain and then solved using circuit theory which gives PEEC a high flexibility to be used in combined electromagnetic and circuit modeling problems.
