1. Physical activity and its effect on bone in the short- and long- term perspective
Sammanfattning : Osteoporosis is a growing problem worldwide where Sweden has one of the highest fragility fracture incidences in the world. The growing years are thought to be an opportune time to build strong bones and the enhancement of peak bone mass (PBM) has been suggested as a prevention strategy for osteoporosis. LÄS MER
2. Synchronization Techniques in Parallel Discrete Event Simulation
Sammanfattning : Discrete event simulation is an important tool for evaluating system models in many fields of science and engineering. To improve the performance of large-scale discrete event simulations, several techniques to parallelize discrete event simulation have been developed. LÄS MER
3. Anions from the lab to ionospheres
Sammanfattning : Anion processes have been in the focus of interest during the last decades, especially due to their importance in planetary ionospheres. Previous observations done by the Cassini Plasma Spectrometer, detected a multitude of heavy neutral and ionic molecules in the ionosphere of Saturn's moon Titan. LÄS MER
4. Proteomic Analysis of Urinary Bladder Cancer : Aiming for Novel Biomarkers
Sammanfattning : Urinary bladder cancer is a heterogeneous disease appearing in different forms, e.g. non-muscle invasive and muscle invasive. For all variants, the expression of proteins is interesting to analyze for diagnostic, predictive, prognostic and drug targeting purposes, since it reflects the altered gene expression causing the cancer. 5. A Study of Using Pulsed Neutron Activation for Accurate Measurements of Water Flow in Pipes
Sammanfattning : The objectives of this work were 1) to investigate the performance of the pulsed neutron activation (PNA) method for determination of mass flow of water in pipes, and 2) to improve the accuracy such that an error less than 1% become possible with the PNA method. The ultimate purpose is to develop this method into a high-accuracy portable and non-intrusive flow-meter that easily can be used as a calibration tool at a number of field applications, e. LÄS MER
