  1. 11. Exploring Selectivity and Hysteresis : Kinetic Studies on a Potato Epoxide Hydrolase

    Författare :Diana Lindberg; Mikael Widersten; Gunnar Johansson; Richard N. Armstrong; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Epoxide hydrolase; regioselectivity; selectivity; hysteresis; conformational changes; cooperativity; deep eutectic solvents; methylstyrene oxide; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The kinetic mechanism of an α/β hydrolase fold epoxide hydrolase from potato, StEH1, has been studied with the aims of explaining the underlying causes for enantio- and regioselectivity, both being important for product purity. Further effort has been laid upon understanding the causes of a hysteretic behavior discovered in the measurements leading to Paper I. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Tire Models for Use in Braking Applications

    Författare :Jacob Svendenius; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Tire model; friction; brush model; combined slip; vehicle;

    Sammanfattning : The tire is a significant part for control of a vehicle. For a well-working brake system the contact properties between the tire and the ground is the limiting factor for a safe braking. To get optimal performance it is important that the system can utilize all friction resources. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Inertial collisions in random flows

    Författare :Kristian Gustafsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Collisions; nonlinear dynamical systems; particles and aerosols; random processes; suspensions; turbulent diffusion; turbulent flows;

    Sammanfattning : In nature, suspensions of small particles in fluids are common. An important example are rain droplets suspended in turbulent clouds. Such clouds can start to rain very quickly and the reason for this is still not fully explained, but it is believed that the turbulent motion in the cloud plays an important role. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The extracellular matrix is (ECM) is a network of large, structural proteins and polysaccharides, important for cellular behavior, tissue development and maintenance. Present thesis describes work exploring ECM as scaffolds for tissue engineering by manipulating cells cultured in vitro or by influencing ECM expression in vivo. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Neuropsychological functions in women with borderline personality disorder and a history of suicide attempts

    Författare :Liselotte Maurex; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a complex psychiatric disorder that leads to intense suffering for afflicted individuals, and extensive use of health care resources. Self-injurious and suicidal behaviors are common among individuals diagnosed with BPD, and as many as 10% of these will eventually die from suicide. LÄS MER
