6. Detection of Bio-analytes with Streaming Current : From Fundamental Principles to Novel Applications
Sammanfattning : A biosensor based on streaming current is a new and relatively unexplored subject with significant potential. This thesis attempts to gain a deeper understanding of the governing principles, and then exploit them to further improve its performance as well as develop novel applications. LÄS MER
7. Development of electrochemical sensor and biosensor platforms : detection of therapeutic drugs and heavy metal ions
Sammanfattning : Electrochemical sensors and biosensors combine the sensitivity of electroanalytical methods with the selectivity of a sensor or biosensor surface. The chemical or biochemical component (receptor) in the sensor recognizes an analyte and produces an electrical signal which is proportional to the analyte concentration. LÄS MER
8. Enterobacteriaceae Producing Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamases : Aspects of Detection, Epidemiology and Control
Sammanfattning : Enterobacteriaceae belong to the normal enteric flora in humans and may cause infections. Escherichia coli is the leading urinary tract pathogen with septicaemic potential, whereas Klebsiella pneumoniae causes opportunistic infections and often outbreaks in hospital settings. LÄS MER
9. On the Search for High-Energy Neutrinos : Analysis of data from AMANDA-II
Sammanfattning : A search for a diffuse flux of cosmic neutrinos with energies in excess of 1014 eV was performed using two years of AMANDA-II data, collected in 2003 and 2004. A 20% evenly distributed sub-sample of experimental data was used to verify the detector description and the analysis cuts. LÄS MER
10. Order restricted inference over countable preordered sets. Statistical aspects of neutron detection
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of four papers. In the first paper, we study the isotonic regression estimator over a general countable preordered set. We obtain the limiting distribution of the estimator and study its properties. Also, it is shown that the isotonisation preserves the rate of convergence of the underlying estimator. LÄS MER
