  1. 1. The role of microclimate for the performance and distribution of forest plants

    Författare :C. Johan Dahlberg; Kristoffer Hylander; Johan Ehrlén; Jason D. Fridley; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; performance; microclimate; spatial scales; continental; landscape; distribution patterns; distribution limits; phenology; vegetative development; reproductive development; vital rates; population growth rate; vascular plants; bryophytes; distribution modelling; Plant Ecology; växtekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Microclimatic gradients may have large influence on individual vital rates and population growth rates of species, and limit their distributions. Therefore, I focused on the influence of microclimate on individual performance and distribution of species. LÄS MER

  2. 2. A Differentiable Approach to Stochastic Differential Equations : the Smoluchowski Limit Revisited

    Författare :Haidar Al-Talibi; Astrid Hilbert; Yaozhong Hu; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; α-stable Lévy noise; Fractional Brownian motion; Girsanov theorem; Mean-field model; Nonlinear stochastic oscillator; Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process; Scaling limit; Second order Itô equation; Time change.; Matematik; Mathematics;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis we generalize results by Smoluchowski [43], Chandrasekhar[6], Kramers, and Nelson [30]. Their aim is to construct Brownian motion as a limit of stochastic processes with differentiable sample paths by exploiting a scaling limit which is a particular type of averaging studied by Papanicolao [35]. 3. 3. Limit theorems for generalizations of GUE random matrices

    Författare :Martin Bender; Kurt Johansson; Arno Kuijlaars; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Random matrices; Central limit theorem; Dyson s Brownian motion; Interacting diffusion; Point process; Non-Hermitian; Scaling limit; MATHEMATICS; MATEMATIK;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of two papers devoted to the asymptotics of random matrix ensembles and measure valued stochastic processes which can be considered as generalizations of the Gaussian unitary ensemble (GUE) of Hermitian matrices H=A+A†, where the entries of A are independent identically distributed (iid) centered complex Gaussian random variables. In the first paper, a system of interacting diffusing particles on the real line is studied; special cases include the eigenvalue dynamics of matrix-valued Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes (Dyson's Brownian motion). 4. 4. Cooperative Variable Speed Limit Systems : Modeling and Evaluation using Microscopic Traffic Simulation

    Författare :Ellen Grumert; Jan Lundgren; Andreas Tapani; Wilco Burghout; Statens väg- och transportforskningsinstitut; []
    Nyckelord :Variable speed limit; Traffic; Micro; Simulation; Data exchange; Telecommunication; Vehicle; Transport infrastructure; Intelligent transport system; In vehicle information; 23 Road: ITS och traffic; 23 Road: ITS och traffic; 25 Road: Traffic theory; 25 Road: Traffic theory;

    Sammanfattning : During the last decades the road traffic has increased tremendously leading to congestion, safety issues and increased environmental impacts. As a result, many countries are continuously trying to find improvements and new solutions to solve these issues. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Asymptotics of random matrices and matrix valued processes

    Författare :Stefan Israelsson; Kurt Johansson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematics; Random matrices; singular interaction; spectral distribution; fluctuation limit; distribution valued processes; MATEMATIK; MATHEMATICS; MATEMATIK; matematisk statistik; Mathematical Statistics;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis contains three parts. In the first two papers we consider spectral properties of symmetric matrices with elements consisting of independent Ornstein Uhlenbeck processes. The eigenvalues behave as a particle system on the real line with singular interaction consisting of electrostatic repulsion and a linear restoring force. LÄS MER
