  1. 11. The significance of feedback de-excitation

    Författare :Carsten Külheim; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arabidopsis thaliana; photosynthesis; feedback de-excitation; fitness; metabolomics; transcriptomics; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : During photosynthesis sunlight is absorbed by photosynthetic pigments and converted into organic compounds, such as carbohydrates. Photosynthesis needs to be highly regulated, since both too much and too little light are harmful to plant. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Photoinduced Electron Transfer in Luminescent Lanthanide Complexes

    Författare :Daniel Kovacs; Eszter Borbas; Stephen Faulkner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lanthanide; Luminescence; Photoinduced electron transfer; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Luminescence from the trivalent lanthanides is used for detection in biological systems. Lanthanide luminescence is usually sensitized by a light-harvesting organic chromophore (’antenna’). An ideal emitter has an antenna that efficiently transfers energy to the lanthanide, and a ligand that shields the metal from quenching solvent molecules. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Association and Interactions in Protein-Surfactant Systems

    Författare :Anna Stenstam; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; catanionic surfactant; SANS; NMR; gel; sodium alkylsulfate; Protein-surfactant interactions; lysozyme; LH2; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Aggregation in protein-surfactant systems have been studied with the ambition of reaching a deeper understanding of the balance of the interaction forces involved. A pure system with maximized electrostatic interactions has been used. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Energy Transfer Processes and Quenching Pathways in Lanthanide Complexes: The Role of Structural Changes

    Författare :Daniel Kocsi; K. Eszter Borbas; Raphaël Tripier; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; lanthanide; luminescence; sensitisation; quenching; electron transfer; organic chromophores; fluorination; Chemistry with specialization in Inorganic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot oorganisk kemi; Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot organisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Due to their unique magnetic and luminescent properties, trivalent lanthanides (Ln(III)) have been widely utilised in cellular imaging. Ln(III) luminescence is usually sensitized by a light-harvesting ‘antenna’, a chromophore that can transfer the excitation energy to the Ln(III). LÄS MER

  5. 15. Unravelling Sensitisation and Quenching Pathways in Lanthanide Luminophores

    Författare :Salauat Kiraev; Eszter Borbas; Thomas Just Sørensen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lanthanide; Luminescence; Sensitisation; Quenching; Energy Transfer; Electron transfer; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Lanthanide (Ln) ions find use in cellular detection and probing of many analytes, owing to their unique photophysical properties. However, to make the Ln emission efficient, one has to develop a light-harvesting antenna, which is an organic chromophore that absorbs and transfers energy to the Ln. LÄS MER
