  1. 1. Imaging of nucleocytoplasmic transcription factor dynamics in yeast

    Författare :Kristofer Bodvard; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; transcription factor; single-cell; yeast; image analysis; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; light stress; Fluorescence microscopy; signalling;

    Sammanfattning : Fluorescence microscopy has proven to be an invaluable tool in identifying and understanding cell signalling, intracellular spatial and temporal dynamics, and cell-to-cell variability. This thesis focuses on imaging of nucleocytoplasmic transcription factor dynamics at the single cell level in yeast. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Coordination of two different genomes in response to light and stress

    Författare :Louise Norén Lindbäck; Åsa Strand; Antony Dodd; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arabidopsis thaliana; chloroplast; cellular communication; tetrapyrrole; circadian clock; oxidative stress; light signalling; gene regulation; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : About 1.5 billion years ago, a photosynthetic bacteria was engulfed by a eukaryotic cell which initiated a symbiotic relationship and the evolution of the chloroplast as we know it today. The chloroplast has retained its own genome encoding for a number of proteins required for the function of the chloroplast. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Illumination in single cell optical microscopy studies - friend and foe

    Författare :Kristofer Bodvard; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; yeast; transcription factors; signalling; fluorescence microscopy; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; light-induced stress; phototoxicity; single cell imaging;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on how to use light as a biological stress factor in optical microscopy experiments and simultaneously use the illumination to image the spatial and temporal protein dynamics in single yeast cells. The stress responses to environmental changes other than light have been extensively investigated in budding yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, often using techniques based on population averages. 4. 4. Regulation of chloroplast development during the greening process

    Författare :Yan Ji; Åsa Strand; Eevi Rintamäki; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arabidopsis thaliana; light response; anterograde signalling; plastid transcription; chloroplast development; photosynthesis; bZIP; PEP complex; de-etiolation; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Upon light exposure, the expression of one-third of the nuclear-encoded genes is changing, including genes encoding many chloroplast-targeted proteins responsible for the initiation of plastid transcription and the establishment of photosynthesis. The control of the nuclear-encoded genes involved in the development of chloroplast is referred to as anterograde signalling. LÄS MER

  5. 5. MAPK-associated proteins in Arabidopsis thaliana

    Författare :Carolin Sörensson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PHS2; stomata; signalling; Arabidopsis thaliana; MKS80; MAPK;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinases (MAPKs) are signalling proteins that are highly conserved among eukaryotes. They are involved in many biological pathways including cell differentiation and response to different stress situations. LÄS MER
