  1. 21. Life History and Tolerance and Resistance against Herbivores in Natural Populations of Arabidopsis thaliana

    Författare :Reiko Akiyama; Jon Ågren; Arjen Biere; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arabidopsis thaliana; life history evolution; flowering time; germination; phenology; plant-herbivore interactions; natural selection; tolerance to leaf damage; resistance to herbivory; Plutella xylostella; Mamestra brassicae; Biology with specialization in Ecological Botany; Biologi med inriktning mot ekologisk botanik;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, I combined observational studies with field and greenhouse experiments to examine selection on life history traits and variation in tolerance and resistance against herbivores in natural populations of the annual herb Arabidopsis thaliana in its native range. I investigated (1) phenotypic selection on flowering time and plant size, (2) the effects of timing of germination on plant fitness, (3) the effect of leaf damage on seed production, and (4) correlations between resistance against a specialist and a generalist insect herbivore. 2. 22. Early Life History of the cold-water coral Lophelia pertusa - with implications for dispersal

    Författare :Susanna Strömberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; larval development; life history traits; dispersal potential; morphology;

    Sammanfattning : For sessile marine invertebrates the pelagic larval stage is the only means for dispersal, and thus govern population connectivity and maintenance of genetic diversity. It is also a kind of life insurance, i.e. it reduces the risk of extinctions. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Lärares digitala didaktik : En tematisk livshistorieansats om lärares didaktiska övertygelser, överväganden och val av digitala resurser

    Författare :Lena Gleisner Villasmil; Eva Hultin; Matilda Wiklund; Dan Åkerlund; Högskolan Dalarna; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Teachers’ life history; digital didactic; teachers’ beliefs; digital artefacts; school digitalization; sociocultural; didactic triangle; Utbildning och lärande; Education and Learning;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this study is to contribute with knowledge from a close teachers’ perspective on how teachers' considerations and choice of digital artefactsfor teaching are related to didactic beliefs that are shaped and changed over time in teacher's professional life. A thematic life history approach is used in combination with a socio-cultural perspective and didactic starting points. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Avian malaria, life-history trade-offs and interspecific competition in Ficedula flycatchers

    Författare :Katarzyna Kulma; Anna Qvarnström; Marlene Zuk; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Blood parasites; competitive asymmetry; immunocompetence; interspecific competition; life-history trade-offs; MHC; parasite-driven selection;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the impact of avian malaria (Haemosporidia) parasites on the outcome of interspecific competition between two closely related bird species, pied (Ficedula hypoleuca) and collared (F. albicollis) flycatchers. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Age, Longevity and Life-History Trade-Offs in the Collared Flycatcher (Ficedula albicollis)

    Författare :Joanna Sendecka; Lars Gustafsson; Anna Qvarnström; Pat Monaghan; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Ecology; age; collared flycatcher; Ficedula albicollis; long-term study; senescence; longevity; reproductive success; selection; individual quality; breeding experience; reproductive effort optimization; terminal investment; life-history trade-offs; reproductive costs; Ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Age is often a neglected factor in ecological studies. However, age-related changes in reproduction and survival of organisms may strongly influence population dynamics. LÄS MER
