  1. 11. Exploring climate impacts of timber buildings : The effects from including non-traditional aspects in life cycle impact assessment

    Författare :Diego Peñaloza; Magnus Wålinder; Matty Janssen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; life cycle assessment LCA ; timber buildings; biobased building materials; low-energy buildings; forest products; climate impact assessment; biogenic emissions; carbon storage; timing of emissions; Industrial Ecology; Industriell ekologi; Byggvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : There is an urgency within the building sector to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate climate change. An increased proportion of biobased building materials in construction is a potential measure to reduce these emissions. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Fresh Perspectives on the Assessment of Sewage Sludge Management

    Författare :Robin Harder; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; life cycle assessment; biosolids; land application; sewage sludge; pathogen risk; risk assessment; life cycle impact assessment; human toxicity; wastewater; chemical risks;

    Sammanfattning : Sewage sludge management and its role in closing nutrient cycles have received considerable attention in recent years. This thesis quantified phosphorus flows in Gothenburg, Sweden, under current and possible future waste management practices, and aimed to improve the assessment of wastewater and sludge management from an environmental and human health perspective through blending risk assessment (RA) and life cycle assessment (LCA). 3. 13. Life Cycle Impacts of Road Infrastructure : Assessment of energy use and greenhouse gas emissions

    Författare :Sofiia Miliutenko; Anna Björklund; Robert Karlsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cumulative Energy Demand CED ; Global Warming Potential GWP ; Life Cycle Assessment LCA ; road infrastructure; strategic planning;

    Sammanfattning : Road infrastructure is essential in the development of human society, but has both negative and positive impacts. Large amounts of money and natural resources are spent each year on its construction, operation and maintenance. Obviously, there is potentially significantenvironmental impact associated with these activities. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Life Cycle Assessment of Building Products. Case Studies and Methodology

    Författare :Åsa Jönsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VOCs; environmental assessment; floorings; methods; LCA; concrete; indoor climate; Life Cycle Assessment; structural frames; building materials; steel; tools;

    Sammanfattning : The main objectives of this thesis were to demonstrate how Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) may be applied to building products, to describe what methodological LCA issues are specific to building products, to work out solutions to some of these issues and to relate LCA to other environmental assessment methods that may be applied to building products. First, in a literature study, the state of the art in the field of environmental assessment of building products is described, and the five articles constituting the thesis are put into context. 5. 15. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of Industrial Milk Production

    Författare :Merete Høgaas Eide; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dairy; cleaning; sustainability; packaging; LCA; Life Cycle Assessment; toxicity; milk;

    Sammanfattning : Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) was applied to milk production and processing in a study of the Norwegian dairy industry. This method, LCA, is used to assess the potential environmental impact of a material, product or service throughout its entire life cycle, from the extraction of the raw materials, the production process, and the user phase, to the final disposal.
