16. Borrowing and lending tools : The materiality of x-lending libraries
Sammanfattning : Libraries lend an expanding array of items: bikes, clothes, seeds, and tools, to name a few. In correspondence with this development, the library as concept is increasingly connected with current sharing trends. At the same time, the library is expected to still be about books, literature, and reading, to deal in information and documents. LÄS MER
17. Guarding the Boundary: Information Flow Tracking in the Presence of Libraries
Sammanfattning : In modern software development, the use of libraries is prevalent. Libraries pose a big security challenge. How can we ensure that sensitive data is not being leaked through libraries? This is the first question of the thesis. LÄS MER
18. Directed Enzyme Evolution of Theta Class Glutathione Transferase : Studies of Recombinant Libraries and Enhancement of Activity toward the Anticancer Drug 1,3-bis(2-Chloroethyl)-1-nitrosourea
Sammanfattning : Glutathione transferases (GSTs) are detoxication enzymes involved in the cellular protection against a wide range of reactive substances. The role of GSTs is to catalyze the conjugation of glutathione with electrophilic compounds, which generally results in less toxic products. LÄS MER
19. On Model Libraries for Thermo-hydraulic Applications
Sammanfattning : Mathematical modelling and simulation are important tools when dealing with engineering systems that today are becoming increasingly more complex. Tightly integrated production and process optimization are trends that give rise to heterogeneous systems, which are difficult to handle without expertise in several engineering disciplines. LÄS MER
20. Subject retrieval in web-based library catalogs
Sammanfattning : This thesis has been motivated by past research, problems and realizations that online library catalog users frequently perform subject searches – using keywords, subject headings and descriptors – and these searches have yielded unsatisfactory results. Web-based catalogs or WebPACs (Web-based Online Public Access Catalogs), belonging to the so-called third generation of online catalogs and providing a wide variety of search options, remain largely underutilized despite the continuous advancement of information retrieval systems.
