1. Prognostic Factors in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC)
Sammanfattning : Background: Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the cancer disease with the highest mortality globally. About 75% of NSCLC patients are diagnosed in an advanced stage where surgical treatment is not possible. For patients with locally advanced disease without distant metastases, the treatment of choice is curatively intended radiotherapy. LÄS MER
2. Defining RCE1 and ICMT as Therapeutic Targets in K-RAS-induced Cancer
Sammanfattning : CAAX proteins, such as the RAS and RHO proteins, are recognized by a specific CAAX motif at the carboxyl terminus, which undergoes posttranslational modifications. First, a lipid group is attached to the cysteine (the “C”) of the CAAX motif by farnesyltransferase (FTase) or geranylgeranyltransferase-I (GGTase-I); second, the –AAX are removed by RAS converting enzyme 1 (RCE1); and third, the cysteine is methylated by isoprenylcysteine carboxyl methyltransferase (ICMT). 3. Clinical and immunopathological studies in Hodgkin's disease with special reference to prognosis
Sammanfattning : Hodgkin's disease (HD) and non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) have certain features in common, but also distinct clinical and pathological differences. Thus, HD has many features of both an infectious (fever, leukocytosis, eosinophilia, night sweats, lymphadenopathy, splenomegaly) and a malignant process with few tumour cells, T-cell accumulation and sclerosis. 4. Platelet function in polycythemia vera : studies of agonist and cytokine induced platelet activation
Sammanfattning : Polycythemia vera (PV) is a malignant myeloproliferative disorder characterized by an increased red cell mass and most often accompanied by leukocytosis and thrombocytosis. The pathogenic mechanisms behind PV are still largely unknown. LÄS MER
5. Platelet and leukocyte activation and their interaction : in experimental prothrombotic and inflammatory states
Sammanfattning : Atherosclerotic disease is associated with inflammation and thrombosis, both of which involve multi-cellular activation and interaction. The present work has investigated the mechanisms of platelet leukocyte cross-talk in vitro, and explored the possibility of multi-cellular activation in vivo in prothrombotic and inflammatory models in healthy volunteers.
