6. Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia in Adult Patients : Studies of Prognostic Factors, Treatment Results and in vitro Cellular Drug Resistance
Sammanfattning : Treatment results and clinical characteristics in adult acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) were evaluated regarding three issues: a new treatment with cytarabine up-front, stem cell transplantation and a comparison between adult and paediatric treatment protocols. All studies were conducted on a national basis. LÄS MER
7. The hematopoietic transcription factor RUNX1 : a structural view
Sammanfattning : The malfunction of the transcriptional regulator RUNX1 is the major cause of several variants of acute human leukemias and its normal function is to regulate the development of the blood system in concert with other transcriptional co-regulators. RUNX1 belongs to a conserved family of heterodimeric transcription factors that share a conserved DNA binding domain, the Runt domain (RD), named after the first member of this group – Runt - found in Drosophila melanogaster. 8. Clinical and Immunological Studies in Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia
Sammanfattning : Chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) is characterised by the constitutively active tyrosine kinase BCR-ABL. Standard treatment with tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI) in the chronic phase (CP) of CML conveys excellent long-term prognosis but is associated with side effects and costs. LÄS MER
9. Experimental studies on multidrug resistance in human leukaemia : role of cellular heterogeneity for daunorubicin kinetics
Sammanfattning : Cellular resistance to chemotherapy is a major cause of treatment failure in acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) and still the majority of the patients die from their disease. Drug resistance 1s multifactorial, the most studied mechanism being multidrug resistance (MDR), mediated by the P-glycoprotein (Pgp). LÄS MER
10. Stereotyped B Cell Receptors in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia : Implications for Antigen Selection in Leukemogenesis
Sammanfattning : Biased immunoglobulin heavy variable (IGHV) gene usage and distinctive B-cell receptor (BCR) features have been reported in chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL), which may reflect clonal selection by antigens during disease development. Furthermore, the IGHV gene mutation status distinguishes two clinical entities of CLL, where patients with unmutated IGHV genes have an inferior prognosis compared to those with mutated IGHV genes.
