1. Analysis of regional seismic data by means of higher-order spectra
Sammanfattning : The use of higher-order statistical and spectral estimators as complementary analysis for conventional regional seismic data processing is studied. The issues addressed are; the properties of the complex bispectrum of regional seismic phases, the experimental detection performance of higher-order statistical detectors, discrimination between local earthquakes and explosions, statistical tests and bicoherence, biphase and spatial bispectrum analysis of regional P-, S, and Lg-phases. 3. Knowledge Translation in Vietnam : Evaluating facilitation as a tool for improved neonatal health and survival
Sammanfattning : Neonatal mortality remains a problem worldwide, despite the existence of low-cost and evidence-based interventions. Unfortunately, the translation of these interventions into practice is deficient. LÄS MER
4. On the relation of optimism and self-esteem to sensual-aesthetic capacity and subjective health
Sammanfattning : In the present thesis three questions were central: Are high self-esteem individuals more optimistic about the future than those low in self-esteem? Are optimistic, high self-esteem individuals more hedonic or capable of enjoying the sensual-aesthetic aspects of life than pessimistic, low self-esteem individuals? Several measures of optimism and self-esteem were used in four studies. One of the self-esteem scales and one of the optimism-pessimism scales was developed by Wenglert (1980). LÄS MER
5. Hidden criminality : theoretical and methodological problems, empirical results
Sammanfattning : The problem of "hidden criminality" - that is, crime which is not known to the police and thus unrecorded - is a classic subject of debate within the field of criminology.Attempts to solve this problem in studies conducted on the individual (offender) level have taken the form of self-report studies, in which a sample of individuals are questioned about crimes they have committed.
