2. New Techniques for Estimation of Source Parameters : Applications to Airborne Gravity and Pseudo-Gravity Gradient Tensors
Sammanfattning : Gravity gradient tensor (GGT) data contains the second derivatives of the Earth’s gravitational potential in three orthogonal directions. GGT data can be measured either using land, airborne, marine or space platforms. LÄS MER
3. Microwave Radiometric Observations of the Middle Atmosphere: Simulations and Inversions
Sammanfattning : Two well-known examples of global environmental problems are the ozone depletion and the enhanced greenhouse effect. The importance and the complexity of these questions generate a demand for improved atmospheric observations, and microwave radiometry is an approach which is increasingly important for measurements of the middle atmosphere (10-100 km). 4. Hydrogeophysics of Tropical Africa : Recent advances and perspectives
Sammanfattning : In the present work an attempt is made to put into perspective the hydrogeophysical investigations for rural water supply carried out over the last two decades in tropical Africa, paying special attention to groundwater targets in the weathered rocks in and above the crystalline basement. The applicability of geophysical techniques in groundwater investigations in tropical Africa, particularly the DC resistivity and electromagnetic techniques is discussed in the light of recent developments in instrumentation, data collection and interpretation procedures. 5. Seismic tomography : Algorithms and applications
Sammanfattning : A preferred algorithm for seismic tomography needs to have capabilities including computational efficiency, minimal computer memory requirements, easy regularization and nonuniqueness analysis. In this thesis, regularised recursive least squares for seismic tomography is developed. LÄS MER
