11. Making Possible by Making Visible : Learning through Visual Representations in Social Science
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses upon the relationship between teaching and learning of dynamic phenomena and processes in social science and the use of visual representations in social science teaching. Teaching in social science uses many visual representations, such as models, flowcharts and diagrams, in order to help students to grasp phenomena, structures and processes in society. LÄS MER
12. Sequential Decision-Making for Drug Design: Towards closed-loop drug design
Sammanfattning : Drug design is a process of trial and error to design molecules with a desired response toward a biological target, with the ultimate goal of finding a new medication. It is estimated to be up to 10^{60} molecules that are of potential interest as drugs, making it a difficult problem to find suitable molecules. LÄS MER
13. Building Physics Tools: Needs, Use and the Lack of Use in the Building Process. Modelling Non-Isothermal Moisture Flow and Frost Penetration
Sammanfattning : Despite advances in material science, computers and building technology, building failures related to building physics continue to occur. These failures range from a building not meeting its energy use target to a building causing people to become ill from exposure to various chemicals or biological organisms. LÄS MER
14. Planning in Interplace? On Time, Power and Learning in Local Activities Aiming at Social Inclusion and Sustainable Development
Sammanfattning : SUBURBAN METROPOLITAN areas in Sweden built in the sixties and seventies are often considered exposed areas and are consequently involved in interventions aimed at dealing with problems such as unemployment, poverty and social exclusion. This thesis focusses on how urban planning is related to this social problem. LÄS MER
15. Data driven crop disease modeling
Sammanfattning : The concept of precision farming deals with the creation and use of data from machinery and sensors on and off the field to optimize resources and sustainably intensify food production to keep up with increasing demand. However, in the face of a growing amount of data being collected, smarter data processing and analysis techniques are needed and have prompted the evaluation and incorporation of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) techniques for multiple use cases right from seeding to harvesting.
