  1. 1. Lateralization of human olfaction : cognitive functions and electrophysiology

    Författare :Daniel Broman; Steven Nordin; Matthias Laska; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; Human olfaction; Laterality; Olfactory processes; Odor familiarity; Odor identification; OERP; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis lateralization of olfactory functions was investigated by both behavioral and electrophysiological assessment, the latter with the olfactory event-related potential (OERP) technique. The olfactory sense is primarily ipsilateral in that a stimulus that is presented to one nostril is initially processed in the same hemisphere. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Development of functional asymmetries in young infants : A sensory-motor approach

    Författare :Erik Domellöf; Louise Rönnqvist; Jacqueline Fagard; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; Laterality; development; handedness; human infant; stepping response; placing response; head turning; arm movement; reaching; kinematic parameters; intralimb coordination; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Human functional laterality, typically involving a right-sided preference in most sensory-motor activities, is still a poorly understood issue. This is perhaps particularly true in terms of what underlying mechanisms that may govern lateral biases, as well as the developmental origins and course of events. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Stroke in geriatric patients - Aspects of depression, cognition and motor activity

    Författare :Berit Agrell; Geriatrik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; stroke; laterality; rating scales; motoractivity; aphasia; neglect; disability; depression; cognition; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Six depression rating scales, GDS, Zung, CES-D, CPRS-D and Cornell, were compared in 40 patients. The validity was good for all scales except for the Cornell scale. A comprehensive investigation was done in 116 elderly stroke patients. There was no difference in prevalence and severity of post-stroke depression in relation to side of lesion. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Sensorimotor behavior in children born preterm and adolescents with Cerebral Palsy : Side preference, movement organization, and training

    Författare :Anna-Maria Johansson; Louise Rönnqvist; Erik Domellöf; Janette Atkinson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; prematurity; preterm; children; cerebral palsy; movement organization; movement performance; goal-directed; laterality; handedness; intelligence; cognition; synchronized metronome training; intervention; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Preterm birth (< 37 complete gestation weeks, GWs) is the single most prominent risk factor for the development of cerebral palsy (CP). This is due to the immature physiological state of the preterm born infant which increases the risk of brain lesions. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Depot neuroleptic maintenance treatment: clinical, pharmacological and neuropsychological aspects

    Författare :Eva Tuninger; Lund Psykiatri; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; clinical psychology; Psychiatry; laterality.; chronic psychosis; schizophrenia; outcome; maintenance treatment; follow-up; longitudinal; neuropsychology; SPECT; auditory hallucinations; dopamine receptor occupancy; psychosomatics; Psykiatri; klinisk psykologi; psykosomatik;

    Sammanfattning : Neuroleptic maintenance treatment is effective to reduce the risk of further episodes of schizophrenia and other chronic psychoses, except affective. Lack of insight often lead to poor compliance to the prescripted medication. Then, neuroleptics might be given as depot injections. LÄS MER
