  1. 1. Microfluidic Cell and Particle Sorting using Deterministic Lateral Displacement

    Författare :Stefan Holm; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Microfluidics; Separation science; Deterministic Lateral Displacement; Cell analysis; Deterministic lateral displacement; Microfluidics; Particle sorting; Droplet microfluidics; trypanosomiasis; red blood cell; Cell sorting; Fysicumarkivet A:2018:Holm;

    Sammanfattning : Microfluidics is a field which has the potential to revolutionize medical diagnostics. The ability to sort and analyse cells by the use of portable handheld devices has the potential to enable sensitive devices for point-of-care diagnostics. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Utvärdering av cykelfälts effekter på cyklisters säkerhet och cykelns konkurrenskraft mot bil

    Författare :Annika Nilsson; Trafik och väg; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; mode choice; route choice; bicycle flow; bicycle counts; level of service; attitudes; speed; lateral position; Road transport technology; behavior; Vägtransportteknik; Bicycle traffic; traffic safety; bicycle planning; bicycle lanes;

    Sammanfattning : This work presents an evaluation of bicycle lane effects on cyclist safety and the ability of bicycles to compete with car traffic. Thirteen Swedish urban streets were studied before and after bicycle lanes were introduced. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Asymmetric lateral loading of the human trunk

    Författare :Qiang-Min Huang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Eccentric; concentric; isokinetic; electromyography; co-activation; trunk; spinal biomechanics; contraction patterns; lateral bending; lifting and lowering; balance; kinematics; postural control; IAP; support translation.;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to characterize the biomechanics and neuromuscular control of the human trunk in response to asymmetric lateral loading. The pulling force and strength capacities as well as muscle activation patterns, trunk kinematics and postural balance in relation to lateral trunk flexion and loading were given special consideration. 4. 4. Lateral Stability of High-Speed Trains at Unsteady Crosswind

    Författare :Dirk Thomas; Mats Berg; Sebastian Stichel; Carsten Bussmann; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Vehicle engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Crosswind stability of rail vehicles has been a research area for several decades,mainly motivated by vehicle overturning accidents and higher speeds, but in recenttimes also by issues of lower energy consumption and track maintenance costsdemanding lower vehicle weights. During everyday operation, rail vehicles are subjectedto large lateral influences from track irregularities, track curves and crosswind,leading to large suspension deflections and increased crosswind sensitivity. 5. 5. Congenital muscular torticollis

    Författare :Anna Öhman; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; craniofacial asymmetry; rotation; lateral flexion; muscle function; infants; reference values; torticollis; early motor milestones; stretching treatment; physiotherapy;

    Sammanfattning : Aim: The purpose of these studies was to undertake a survey of functional and cosmetic status in children treated for congenital muscular torticollis (CMT), to examine validity and reliability of the Muscle Function Scale (MFS), to find reference values for rotation and lateral flexion of the neck and muscle function of the lateral flexors in the neck for the normally developing infant, to investigate if infants with CMT are at higher risk of achieving the early motor milestones later compared to a control group of healthy infants and to investigate if treatment duration is affected when stretching is carried out by an experienced physiotherapist compared to parents. Methods: Range of motion (ROM) in neck rotation was measured with an arthrodial protractor. LÄS MER
