11. Flow structures in solid-liquid suspensions in mixing and confined jets
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the influence of solid particles on different liquid flow systems.Large-scale periodic fluctuations such as macro instability (MI) phenomena in a mixingvessel and jet flows in a confined jet were experimentally analyzed by means of LDV. Theinfluences of different sized (0.5mm-2mm) glass particles (0%vol - 6. LÄS MER
12. Mesoscale Simulations of Atmospheric Flow in Complex Terrain
Sammanfattning : The MIUU mesoscale model was further developed, in order to include information on large-scale atmospheric fields from global or regional atmospheric climate- and weather-prediction models. For this purpose, a new lateral boundary condition was developed and implemented into the model. LÄS MER
13. SOLIDS MIXING IN BUBBLING FLUIDIZED BEDS
Sammanfattning : For solid fuels, thermochemical conversion processes such as combustion and gasification are especially suitable to be carried out in fluidized bed units because of the relatively high mixing rates, fuel flexibility and the possibility to use active bed material to enhance process efficiency. Mixing of fuel is important to ensure complete conversion and reduced emissions of unburnt material. LÄS MER
14. On pressure-driven Hele-Shaw flow
Sammanfattning : The present licentiate thesis is devoted to the rigorous derivation of the equations governing thin-film flow of incompressible Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids. More precisely, we consider flow in a generalized Hele-Shaw cell, which is a thin three-dimensional domain confined between two surfaces connected by cylindrical obstacles of various shapes. LÄS MER
15. The role of particles on initial atmospheric corrosion of copper and zinc : lateral distribution, secondary spreading and CO2-/SO2-influence
Sammanfattning : The role of sodium chloride (NaCl) particles and ammonium sulfate ((NH4)2SO4) particles on the initial atmospheric corrosion of copper and zinc was investigated under in situ and ex situ conditions using microgravimetry, FTIR spectroscopy, ion chromatography, scanning electron microscopy with x-ray microanalysis and the scanning Kelvin probe. For the first time, in situ infrared spectra were collected on a micron level during particle induced atmospheric corrosion using a recently developed experimental set-up for in situ FTIR microspectroscopy.
