6. Optical diagnostics of Soot in optically dense sprays
Sammanfattning : Soot diagnostics in engines can be carried out with optical methods that have the potentialfor high temporal and spatial resolution. Some of these methods were appliedto study diesel spray combustion in the Chalmers High Pressure, High Temperature(HP/HT) spray rig. LÄS MER
7. Optical Diagnostics of Soot in Combusting Sprays
Sammanfattning : Optical diagnostics in combusting diesel sprays were carried out in the Chalmers High Pressure, High Temperature (HP/HT) spray rig at conditions similar to those in an internal combustion engine, reaching up to 100 bar and 630 ◦ C. Spray development studies and combustion characterisation were done by high speed shadowgraphs that were digitally processed to measure the start of combustion, break-up, droplets and vapour penetration. 8. Range Camera Imaging : From Human Body Measurements to Very Large 3D Points Scenes Visualization
Sammanfattning : The use of camera range imaging for the purpose of 3-dimensional representation and non-contact measures is widely used in industry, medicine, computer-aided design and other areas. Different range imaging methods can be applied, such as stereo, laser sheet of light, and structured light. LÄS MER
9. Droplet size, concentration, and temperature mapping in sprays using SLIPI-based techniques
Sammanfattning : Structured laser illumination planar imaging (SLIPI) is a technique capable of suppressing multiple light scattering effects in optically dense sprays, resulting in spray images without blurs and with enhanced contrast. The novelty of the work presented in this thesis concerns the applications of a variety of SLIPI-based techniques for the measurement of droplet size, droplet concentration, and liquid temperature in atomizing sprays. 10. Development of Multi-Dimensional Laser Techniques for In-situ Combustion Diagnostics
Sammanfattning : Multi-dimensional, laser-based measurements of quantities important for obtaining a better understanding of combustion processes, particularly of temperature and of species distributions, were performed using laser-induced fluorescence (LIF). The main purpose of the temperature experiments was to investigate the potential of employing a two-line atomic fluorescence technique (TLAF), using indium as the tracer species, in sooting environments such as in diesel engines.
