1. Laser Sheet Imaging and Image Analysis for Combustion Research
Sammanfattning : This Thesis presents techniques that aim at exploiting the potential of image analysis and processing in order to solve problems of data reduction, interpolation, quantification, and interpretation within the field of experimental laser imaging of combustion processes. Combustion is the most important source of energy for power generation, heating, and transportation in the world today and its strong dominance is projected to continue in the foreseeable future. 2. Laser Diagnostic Techniques with Ultra-High Repetition Rate for Studies in Combustion Environments
Sammanfattning : When conducting laser based diagnostics in combustion environments it is often desirable to obtain temporally resolved information. This can be due to several factors such as combustion taking place in a turbulent flow field, flame propagation from a spark plug in an initially quiescent combustible mixture, or rapid, multi-point fuel consumption in a homogeneous charge as a result of compression ignition in an engine cycle. 3. Laser-Based Techniques for Combustion Diagnostics
Sammanfattning : Two-photon-induced Degenerate Four-Wave Mixing, DFWM, was applied for the first time to the detection of CO, and NH3 molecules. Measurements were performed in a cell, and in atmospheric-pressure flames. In the cell measurements, the signal dependence on the pressure and on the laser beam intensity was studied. LÄS MER
4. Resonant Laser Techniques for Combustion and Flow Diagnostics
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents results from two areas of research. Firstly, the resonant coherent laser techniques polarization spectroscopy (PS), degenerate four-wave mixing (DFWM) and stimulated emission (SE) have been developed in the general field of combustion diagnostics. LÄS MER
5. Nonlinear optical techniques for ultrafast laser diagnostics : Development of femtosecond LIF, LIGS, CARS and backward lasing
Sammanfattning : The thesis work concerns development and application of four versatile nonlinear optical techniques, based on exploiting ultrashort laser pulses, for diagnostic purposes in gases and flames. The four techniques, all laser-based, are two-photon laser-induced fluorescence (TPLIF), hybrid femtosecond/nanosecond (fs/ns) rotational coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (fs/ns RCARS), fs-laser-induced grating spectroscopy (fs-LIGS), and backward lasing.
