    Sammanfattning : Land use change constitutes a primary driving force in shaping social-ecological systems world wide, and its effects reach far beyond the directly impacted areas. Graph based landscape ecological tools have become established as a promising way to efficiently explore and analyze the complex, spatial systems dynamics of ecological networks in physical landscapes. 2. 2. Deriving landscape metrics from sample data

    Författare :Habib Ramezani; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the efficiency of using sampling methods to derive landscape metrics. It also explores what sampling methods are to be preferred for different metrics and how metrics in some cases can be redefined to better suit a sample-based data collection framework. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Remote Sensing of Urbanization and Environmental Impacts

    Författare :Jan Haas; Yifang Ban; Costas Cartalis; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Remote Sensing; Urbanization; Land Use Land Cover LULC ; Environmental Impact; Landscape Metrics; Ecosystem Services; Geodesy and Geoinformatics; Geodesi och geoinformatik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis aims to establish analytical frameworks to map urban growth patterns with spaceborne remote sensing data and to evaluate environmental impacts through Landscape Metrics and Ecosystem Services. Urbanization patterns at regional scale were evaluated in China's largest urban agglomerations and at metropolitan scale in Shanghai, Stockholm and Beijing using medium resolution optical satellite data. 4. 4. Satellie Monitoring of Urban Growth and Indicator-based Assessment of Environmental Impact

    Författare :Dorothy Furberg; Yifang Ban; Margareta Ihse; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Urban growth; remote sensing; landcover classification; landscape metrics; environmental indicators; environmental impact; Greater Toronto Area; Stockholm; Shanghai;

    Sammanfattning : One of the major consequences of urbanization is the transformation of land surfaces from rural/natural environments to built-up land that supports diverse forms of human activity. These transformations impact the local geology, climate, hydrology, flora and fauna and human-life supporting ecosystem services in the region. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Remote Sensing of Urbanization and Environmental Impacts

    Författare :Jan Haas; Yifang Ban; Lars Eklund; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Remote Sensing; Classification; Land Use Land Cover; Support Vector Machine; Random Forest; Urbaniztion; Environmental Impact; Landscape Metrics; Ecosystem Services; Geomatik; Geomatics;

    Sammanfattning : The unprecedented growth of urban areas all over the globe is nowadays maybe most apparent in China having undergone rapid urbanization since the late 1970s. The need for new residential, commercial and industrial areas leads to new urban regions challenging sustainable development and the maintenance and creation of a high living standard as well as the preservation of ecological functionality.
