2. Movements in the dark : flying, landing and walking in insects
Sammanfattning : Flying, as well as walking insects rely on vision to regulate locomotion, even in the dark when the visual system is much less reliable. To manage visual control of these behaviours at low light intensities, many insects have evolved optical adaptations, such as larger facet lenses and wider rhabdoms, and neural adaptations, such as spatial and temporal summation, to increase their visual sensitivity. 3. Seaward Landward : Investigations on the archaeological source value of the landing site category in the Baltic Sea region
Sammanfattning : There is a tendency in archaeology dealing with watercraft landing sites in a wider context to assume a direct relationship between sites in coastal and shore-bound areas and the practise of landing, without any deeper practical or theoretical exploration of the reality of any such relationship. This problem has its origins in the poor archaeological and conceptual definitions of watercraft landing sites obstructing any real understanding of the role of these sites in the maritime cultural landscape. 4. The visual ecology of bees - Tales of diverse eyes and behaviours
Sammanfattning : The buzzing flight of bees is a popular summer hit. Yet, outside of a few familiar species of honeybees and bumblebees, these fantastic little creatures are still mostly unknown. With about twenty-five thousand species, bees are a very diverse group. They can be found in drastically different habitats. LÄS MER
5. Voicelanding - Exploring the scenographic potential of acoustic sound in site-sensitive performance
Sammanfattning : This practical artistic research project (Documented Artistic Research Project (Doctoral Thesis)) explores how the performance of acoustic sound in dialogue with site can create a sonic scenography, experienced by an audience from within the sonic structures. Six art projects were carried out in the context of this research. LÄS MER
