16. Turbulent and Transitional Flow in Porous Media An Experimental Investigation
Sammanfattning : Fluid flow through porous media takes place in many natural processes such as ground water flows, capillary flows in plants and flow in human organs and muscles. It is also of outmost importance to have knowledge of this flow in a number of industrial processes such as paper making, making of fiber boards, composites manufacturing, filtering, forming and sintering of iron ore pellets and drying and impregnation of wood. 17. Numerical Methods for Aerodynamic Shape Optimization
Sammanfattning : Gradient-based aerodynamic shape optimization, based on Computational Fluid Dynamics analysis of the flow, is a method that can automatically improve designs of aircraft components. The prospect is to reduce a cost function that reflects aerodynamic performances. LÄS MER
18. Development of Numerical Methods for Turbulent Flow in Complex Rotating Systems
Sammanfattning : A computer code has been developed to predict three-dimensional incompressible turbulent flow in complex rotating geometries. The application in mind is turbomachinery in general. However such a code is able to treat a large number of problems in fluid mechanics. LÄS MER
19. A Study of Turbulent Natural Convection Boundary Layers Using Large-Eddy Simulation
Sammanfattning : The structure of turbulent natural convection boundary layers in differentgeometries and the effect of the buoyancy on a mixed convection boundarylayer are investigated. These geometries comprise a vertical finitecylinder, a vertical infinite channel, a cavity and a vertical finite channel. LÄS MER
20. Adjoint-based aerodynamic shape optimization
Sammanfattning : An adjoint system of the Euler equations of gas dynamics is derived in order to solve aerodynamic shape optimization problems with gradient-based methods. The derivation is based on the fully discrete flow model and involves differentiation and transposition of the system of equations obtained by an unstructured and node-centered finite-volume discretization.
