  1. 1. Magnetic Reconnection in Space Plasmas : Cluster Spacecraft Observations

    Författare :Alessandro Retinò; Mats André; Andris Vaivads; Bengt U. Ö. Sonnerup; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Space and plasma physics; space physics; plasma astrophysics; plasma physics; transport processes; boundary layers; magnetic reconnection; turbulence; particle acceleration; solar system; magnetospheres; Rymd- och plasmafysik;

    Sammanfattning : Magnetic reconnection is a universal process occurring at boundaries between magnetized plasmas, where changes in the topology of the magnetic field lead to the transport of charged particles across the boundaries and to the conversion of electromagnetic energy into kinetic and thermal energy of the particles. Reconnection occurs in laboratory plasmas, in solar system plasmas and it is considered to play a key role in many other space environments such as magnetized stars and accretion disks around stars and planets under formation. 2. 2. Heat and water flows in freezing and thawing soils : numerical modelling, laboratory and field observations

    Författare :Helén Engelmark; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Vattenteknik; Water Resources Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : A laboratory study of infiltration rates into frozen and unfrozen fine sand, including temperature effects of both soil and infiltration water, is reported. The average infiltration rate varied from about 10.6 mm/min for unfrozen conditions, to about 1-2 mm/min for frozen conditions. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Work technique in lifting and patient transfer tasks

    Författare :Katarina Kjellberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :age; biomechanics; gender; lifting; low back disorders; methods; observations; nurses; patient comfort; patient handling; patient; safety; work technique;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to explore and develop methods for describing, analysing and assessing work technique in lifting and patient transfer tasks, and to study how the work technique is related to personal factors and aspects of patient quality and safety. The focus was on work technique features with implications for musculoskeletal load and for the development of musculoskeletal disorders. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Physical Activity and Alzheimer's Disease : Measurements, Observations and Subjective Experiences

    Författare :Ylva Cedervall; Anna Cristina Åberg; Lars Lannfelt; Lena Kilander; Per-Olof Sandman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Caregiver; continuity theory; dementia; dual-task; gait analysis; in-depth interview; mixed methods research; participant observation; physical capacity; qualitative; selfhood; walking; Physiotherapy; Sjukgymnastik fysioterapi; Geriatrics; Geriatrik;

    Sammanfattning : Gait disturbances such as slow walking speed and step-to-step variability have been reported among people with mild Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and as risk factors for functional decline, dependency, and falls. Additionally, AD-related emotional reactions and decreased initiative can lead to physical inactivity. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Coloured Universe and the Russian Avant-Garde : Matiushin on Colour Vision in Stalin's Russia, 1932

    Författare :Margareta Tillberg; Jeff Werner; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Colour vision; Russian avant-garde; Mikhail Matiushin; Elena Guro; Ender siblings; art; science; laboratory observations; colour practices; colour theory; synaesthesia; dialectical materialism; Stalin; culture; universal language; architecture; design; Matjušin; Michail Vasilʹevič; 1861-1934; Experimentell konsthistoria Sovjetunionen 1930-talet; Färglära historia Sovjetunionen 1930-talet; Art; Konstvetenskap; konstvetenskap; Art History;

    Sammanfattning : Colour vision was of fundamental importance in modernist art. One reason its significance has been studied so little with regard to Russian art is that Soviet archives were inaccessible until the early 1990s. This work is the first close study on a so-called laboratory in an art- and science institute in the Soviet Union in the 1920s. LÄS MER
