  1. 1. Improvements of the Bromodeoxyuridine-DNA Flow Cytometry Method for the Study of Cell Proliferation

    Författare :Maria C Johansson; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; head and neck cancer; [3H]thymidine; energy transfer; cell cycle; xenografted tumours; cultured cells; potential doubling time; labelling index; DNA synthesis time; cell proliferation; growth kinetics; Bromodeoxyuridine; DNA flow cytometry; cancer; onkologi; Cytologi; cancerology; oncology; Cytology;

    Sammanfattning : Potential doubling time (Tpot), DNA synthesis time (TS), and labelling index (LI) are fundamental growth kinetics parameters in clinical and experimental cancer research, which may be of further practical importance regarding prognosis and treatment prediction of cancer. They can be measured by bromodeoxyuridine(BrdUrd)/flow cytometry (FCM) methods, where BrdUrd, an analogue of thymidine, is incorporated into DNA and quantified simultaneously with the DNA content. 2. 2. Astatine-211 and Iodine Conjugates: Radiohalogenation and Preclinical Pharmacokinetics for Targeted and Pretargeted Radioimmunotherapy

    Författare :Sture Lindegren; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; radioimmunotherapy; antibodies; dry-distillation; radiohalogenation; pretargeting; iodine; astatine-211;

    Sammanfattning : Endoradiotherapy using labelled tumour specific-monoclonal antibodies in the therapy of malignant disease is a therapeutic modality that is coming of age. While clearly defined tumours can be treated with surgery and/or chemotherapy, occult metastases requires adjuvant systemic treatment, e.g. LÄS MER

  3. 3. PET/CT with 18F-FDG and 68Ga-DOTATOC in pulmonary carcinoid imaging

    Författare :Natalja Uhlén; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: PET/CT, positron emission tomography combined with computed tomography, with 18F-FDG (2-deoxy-2-[18F]fluoro-D-glucose) is well established in oncological imaging. Pulmonary carcinoid tumours may have metabolic activity, making them available for PET/CT imaging with 18F-FDG. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Fat metabolism : A clinical and experimental study with special reference to newborns

    Författare :Gertrud Angsten; Karl-Anders Dahlström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; neonates; total parenteral nutrition; plasma and muscle carnitine; carnitine reference intervals; medium-chain triglycerides; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; kirurgi; särskilt barnkirurgi; Pediatric Surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Lipid emulsion is an important constituent of total parenteral nutrition (TPN). In the investigations described in this thesis the effects of different lipid emulsions in neonates were studied. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Sialic acid : a new potential marker of alcohol abuse

    Författare :Maritta Pönniö; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Biological markers have been used for several years to detect heavy alcohol consumption or organ damage induced by alcohol. Early identification of alcohol abuse or alcohol dependence could increase the likelihood of early treatment, thereby reducing health damage and health care costs. LÄS MER
