Sammanfattning : The aims of this work were: 1) to estimate the number of follicles, ovarian volume and power Doppler vascular indices and their changes with age using three-dimensional (3D) transvaginal grey-scale and power Doppler ultrasound in asymptomatic women of fertile age either with natural menstrual cycles or using combined oral contraceptives, and 2) to determine whether tumour vascularity, assessed by 3D power Doppler ultrasound, can help discriminate between benign and malignant ovarian tumours. A group of 303 gynaecologically asymptomatic women, aged 20–39 years with normal menstrual cycles (NMC) and another group of 213 women aged 20–39 years using combined oral contraceptives (COC) were examined using two-dimensional (2D) and 3D transvaginal ultrasound once between cycle day 4 and 8. Sammanfattning : Work-related musculoskeletal disorders are widespread, and are, for unclear reasons, more common among females than in males. Several risk factors have been described; constrained and awkward postures, repetitive and/or force demanding motions, and lack of recovery. LÄS MER
4. Urethritis and cervicitis with special reference to Chlamydia trachomatis and Mycoplasma genitalium : diagnostic and epidemiological aspects
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to elucidate urethritis and cervicitis and the possible causes with special reference to Chlamydia trachomatis and Mycoplasma genitalium. Despite mandatory partner notification legislated in 1988, the incidence of C trachomatis infection in Sweden has undergone a 10% annual increase since 1997, following a decline in the early 1990s. Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to improve background knowledge for making a reliable medical evaluation at the first visit of a woman in her 13th gestational week, to the antenatal clinic.
