    Sammanfattning : Patients waiting for cardiac surgery often consider the period from the decision for surgery to the time for the operation as long, heavy and dreary. Therefore, it is important that patients are supplied with structured oral and written information regarding their disease and its treatment, so that they are able to understand and discuss the forthcoming operation, the risk of complications and the possibility that surgery may be delayed.     Sammanfattning : Corneal transplantation is often the only treatment option in cases of corneal blindness, with the main challenges being the scarcity of human donors, risk for graft failure and suboptimal visual outcome due to suture-related issues. Alternative therapies are sought that either address the above transplantation issues directly or stimulate the cornea’s repair mechanism and regenerative properties to restore transparency without the need for transplantation.
