1. The circadian clock in annuals and perennials : coordination of Growth with Environmental Rhythms
Sammanfattning : Since the first signs of life on planet earth, organisms have had to adapt to the daily changes between light and dark, and high and low temperatures. This has led to the evolution of an endogenous time keeper, known as the circadian clock. LÄS MER
3. Tree-limit ecotonal response to Holocene climate change in the Scandes Mountains of west-central Sweden
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to reconstruct the Holocene vegetational and climatic development in the Sylarna-Storulvån area, western Jämtland, in the central Scandes Mountains. Temporal trends and fluctuations in the elevation and vegetational character of the tree-limit ecotone were studied mainly by means of pollen and plant macrofossil analysis of two lake sediment sequences (Lakes Stentjärn and Spåime), located above the present-day tree-limit. 4. Reconciling gene family evolution and species evolution
Sammanfattning : Species evolution can often be adequately described with a phylogenetic tree. Interestingly, this is the case also for the evolution of homologous genes; a gene in an ancestral species may – through gene duplication, gene loss, lateral gene transfer (LGT), and speciation events – give rise to a gene family distributed across contemporaneous species. 5. On gene regulatory networks and data fitting
Sammanfattning : Living organisms can be viewed as complex biological machines. In order to function, they must regulate their internal mechanism to do the right thing, at the right time, and in the right amount. Part of this regulation is encoded in gene regulatory networks. LÄS MER
