  1. 56. Molecular targets for glucocorticoids in macrophages: cytosolic phospholipase A2 and cytokine formation

    Författare :Karin Gewert; Infektionsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pharmacognosy; Pharmacological sciences; signal transduction; dexamethasone; cytosolic phospholipase A2; glucocorticoids; macrophages; protein kinase C; mitogen-activated protein kinases; TNF-alpha; IL-1beta; protein phosphatases; okadaic acid; pharmacy; toxicology; Farmakologi; farmakognosi; farmaci; toxikologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this investigation has been to study mechanisms by which glucocorticoids inhibit inflammatory processes in vitro. Type IV cytosolic 85 kDa phospholipase A2 (cPLA2) is an important modulator of inflammatory responses that is present in macrophages as well as in other cell types. LÄS MER

  2. 57. Mitochondrial permeability transition following calcium overload. - Its role in neuronal cell death and potential as a pharmacological target

    Författare :Magnus Hansson; Sektion IV; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; farmakognosi; farmaci; Bioenergetik; Bioenergetics; neuropsykologi; toxikologi; neurofysiologi; Neurologi; Neurology; neurophysiology; neuropsychology; Neurodegeneration; Mitochondria; Brain; Pharmacological sciences; pharmacognosy; pharmacy; Farmakologi; toxicology;

    Sammanfattning : There is currently no clinically available drug with neuroprotective properties to limit the evolving cell death following e.g. stroke or traumatic brain injury. The mitochondrial permeability transition (mPT) is a potential pathological mechanism causing cell death in the CNS. LÄS MER

  3. 58. Medication-related problems and psychotropic drug use in vulnerable older populations : a focus on acute hospital admissions and cognitive impairment

    Författare :Jonas Kindstedt; Maria Gustafsson; Hugo Lövheim; Eva-Lotta Glader; Staffan Hägg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; older people; cognitive impairment; medication-related problems; psychotropic drugs; Clinical Pharmacology; klinisk farmakologi;

    Sammanfattning : The ageing process involves several physiological changes that affect both pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics and that, in combination with a heavier disease burden and more extensive use of medicines, put older people at higher risk of medication-related problems and associated clinical outcomes. The older population is often treated as a homogenous group, when in fact there are factors that render certain individuals more vulnerable to adverse drug effects and other types of medication-related problems. 4. 59. Potentially inappropriate drug treatment among older people with cognitive impairment

    Författare :Eva Sönnerstam; Maria Gustafsson; Maria Sjölander; Hugo Lövheim; Ylva Böttiger; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Older people; major neurocognitive disorder; cognitive impairment; potentially inappropriate medications; drug-drug interactions; renal function; adverse drug reactions; nursing homes; time trends; Clinical Pharmacology; klinisk farmakologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The aging process contributes to alterations in organ systems, which lead to an increased risk for chronic conditions. Drug treatment is an important strategy in the management of chronic conditions; however, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic alterations contribute to increased sensitivity to drug effects. LÄS MER

  5. 60. Drug-related morbidity and mortality : Pharmacoepidemiological aspects

    Författare :Anna K. Jönsson; Staffan Hägg; Johan Ahlner; Henrik Druid; Jörg Mörland; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Adverse drug reactions; pharmacoepidemiology; antipsychotics; venous; thromboembolism; warfarin; haemorrhage; intoxication; medico-legal autopsies; mortality; Läkemedelsbiverkningar; farmakoepidemiologi; antipsykotika; venös tromboembolism; warfarin; blödning; intoxikation; rättsmedicinska obduktioner; fatal; Clinical pharmacology; Klinisk farmakologi;

    Sammanfattning : Adverse drug reactions (ADRs) constitute a significant health problem with consequences for the patient as well as for society. Suspected ADRs have been reported to occur in about 2-14% of hospitalised patients. In about 5% of deceased hospitalised patients suspected ADRs may have caused or contributed to the fatal outcome.
