  1. 6. New refrigerants for vapour compression refrigeration and heat pump systems : evaluation in a context of the requirements set by the F-gas Regulation and the Paris Agreement goals

    Författare :Pavel Makhnatch; Rahmatollah Khodabandeh; Angelo Maiorino; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; refrigerant; retrofit; drop-in; HFC; HFO; F-gas Regulation; Kigali Amendment; Montreal protocol; Life cycle climate performance; LCCP; climate change; Energiteknik; Energy Technology;

    Sammanfattning : Given the global commitment to reduce the impact of fluorinated gases on climate and the regulations controlling their use in the European Union (EU), this thesis investigates new refrigerants that have been recently proposed to meet the demands of the refrigeration industry in the EU, which must satisfy the legislative requirements of the F-gas Regulation and facilitate meeting the goals of the Paris Agreement.The legislative requirements of the EU have intensified refrigerant development with reduced GWP. 2. 7. Dietary change for sustainable food systems: Effects on climate, land use and health

    Författare :Elinor Hallström; Miljö- och energisystem; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; health; nutrition; land use; climate impact; meat; Diet;

    Sammanfattning : Food production and consumption are key drivers of environmental pressures and essential factors in the promotion and maintenance of health. Production of food occupies more than 1/3 of global land areas and is estimated to be responsible for some 30% of global greenhouse gas emissions. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Comfort climate evaluation with thermal manikin methods and computer simulation models

    Författare :Håkan O. Nilsson; Högskolan i Gävle; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; equivalent temperature; subject; thermal manikin; mannequin; thermal climate assessment; heat loss; office environment; cabin climate; ventilated seat; computer model; CFD; clothing-independent; comfort zone diagram; Civil engineering and architecture; Samhällsbyggnadsteknik och arkitektur;

    Sammanfattning : Increasing concern about energy consumption and the simultaneous need for an acceptable thermal environment makes it necessary to estimate in advance what effect different thermal factors will have on the occupants. Temperature measurements alone do not account for all climate effects on the human body and especially not for local effects of convection and radiation. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Exploring the relevance of uncertainty in the life cycle assessment of forest products

    Författare :Frida Røyne; Mats Tysklind; Stina Jansson; Johanna Berlin; José Potting; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LCA; wood; forestry; uncertainty; biorefinery; industrial symbiosis; allocation; system boundaries; bio-economy; LCA; trä; skogsbruk; osäkerhet; bioraffinaderi; industriell symbios; allokering; systemgränser; bioekonomi;

    Sammanfattning : The role of forest biomass as a replacement for fossil fuels and products is becoming increasingly prominent as a means to mitigate climate change. To guide a sustainable transition towards a forest-based bio-economy, it is important that advantages and disadvantages of forest products are assessed, to ensure that the products deliver environmental impact reduction. 5. 10. Advancing Bioenergy in Europe: Exploring bioenergy systems and socio-political issues

    Författare :Kes McCormick; Internationella miljöinstitutet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Bioenergy; Sustainable Development; Political and administrative sciences; Biomass; Renewable Energy; förvaltningskunskap; Statsvetenskap; Energy Policy; Social sciences; Samhällsvetenskaper;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis concentrates on bioenergy (or biomass utilised for heat, electricity and fuels for transport) as a renewable energy with significant potentials and options. Biomass can be considered as 'stored' solar energy because the process of photosynthesis 'captures' energy from the sun in growing plants. LÄS MER
