  1. 21. Dissolved organic carbon in tropical watersheds : Linking field observation and eco-hydrological modelling

    Författare :Fabien Rizinjirabake; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dissolved organic carbon DOC ; Rwanda; Land use land cover variability; Climate variability and change; Rukarara River Watershed; eco-hydrological modelling; field observation;

    Sammanfattning : Dissolved organic carbon (DOC) is a general description of the organic material dissolved in water. DOC is an important source of energy, carbon, and nutrient transfers from terrestrial to aquatic ecosystems. The export of DOC into aquatic ecosystems may contribute to the carbon balance of terrestrial ecosystems and to water degradation. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Modeling nutrient cycling and sustainable forest growth in a changing world

    Författare :Patrik Wallman; LUCSUS; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; nutrients; sustainability; ForSAFE; Chemical technology and engineering; forestry technology; forestry; Silviculture; system dynamics; forest growth models; dynamic modeling; Kemiteknik och kemisk teknologi; skogsbruk; skogsteknik; Skogsvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : It took 70-80 years to realize the width of the impact of industrialization on the forest ecosystems since a forest ecosystem is a "slow system" as seen from a human perspective. An anticipated future climate change and increasing carbon dioxide and ozone levels will change the conditions even more with time and the widely used statistical forest growth models will not be applicable anymore. 3. 23. Economic and Environmental Benefits of CHP-based District Heating Systems in Sweden

    Författare :Shahnaz Amiri; Björn G. Karlsson; Louise Trygg; Mats Westermark; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Future energy systems and thus the climate are affected by many factors, such as energy resources, energy demand, energy policy and the choice of energy technologies. Energy systems of the future are facing three main challenges; the steady growth of global energy demand, the energy resource depletion, as well as the increasing emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gases and their impact on climate change. 4. 24. Modelling regional climate-vegetation interactions in Europe : A palaeo perspective

    Författare :Gustav Strandberg; Erik Kjellström; Qiong Zhang; Johan Nilsson; Hans Renssen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Palaeoclimate; climate model; vegetation; vegetation changes; land-cover; changes; proxy data; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Sammanfattning : Studies in paleoclimate are important because they give us knowledge about how the climate system works and puts the current climate change in necessary perspective. By studying (pre)historic periods we increase our knowledge not just about these periods, but also about the processes that are important for climatic variations and changes. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Modelling nutrient transport from forest ecosystems to surface waters : The model ForSAFE-2D

    Författare :Giuliana Zanchi; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; forest; dynamic modelling; hydrology; biogeochemistry; ecosystem service;

    Sammanfattning : Forests provide multiple products and services which are all are linked to water resources. Trees need water to grow and, at the same time, they change the quality and the quantity of runoff by modifying water and nutrient cycling. LÄS MER
