  1. 1. Superconducting kinetic inductance devices for nanoscale force sensing

    Författare :August K. Roos; David B. Haviland; Hélène le Sueur; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; optomechanics; force sensing; atomic force microscopy; kinetic inductance; superconductivity; strain; meandering nanowires; optomekanik; kraftavkänning; atomkraftsmikroskopi; kinetisk induktans; supraledning; töjning; slingrande nanotrådar; Material and Nano Physics; Material- och nanofysik;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, we present a force sensor for atomic force microscopy based on cavity optomechanical principles. We explain the function, design, fabrication and characterisation of the force sensor. The mechanical part of the force sensor consists of a cantilever with a very fine tip. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : In the growing field of on-scalp magnetoencephalography (MEG), brain activity is studied by non-invasively mapping the magnetic fields generated by neuronal currents with sensors that are flexibly placed in close proximity to the subject's head. This thesis focuses on high-temperature superconducting magnetometers made from YBa2Cu3Ox-7 (YBCO), which enables a reduction in the sensor-to-room temperature standoff distance from roughly 2 cm (for conventional MEG systems) down to 1 mm. 3. 3. Electrified Integrated Kinetic Energy Storage

    Författare :Magnus Hedlund; Hans Bernhoff; Markus Mueller; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; flywheel energy storage; magnetic bearings; carbon composite; Engineering Science with specialization in Science of Electricity; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot elektricitetslära;

    Sammanfattning : The electric car is a technically efficient driveline, although it is demanding in terms of the primary energy source. Most trips are below 50 km and the mean power required for maintaining speed is quite low, but the system has to be able to both provide long range and high maximum power for acceleration. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Fabrication and Characterization of Superconductive Coplanar Waveguide Resonators : Fabrication and Characterization of Superconductive Coplanar Waveguide Resonators

    Författare :Adem Ergül; David B. Haviland; Vladimir Krasnov; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Coplanar; Waveguide; Resonator; Superconductive; Fabrication; Characterization; Superconductivity; Supraledning;

    Sammanfattning : The objective of this thesis is to evaluate a generic process for fabrication and characterization of the Superconductive coplanar waveguide (CPW) resonators. Superconductive CPW resonators with various lengths and shapes are designed to investigate their electrical and magnetic properties as well as resonance properties and sensitivities. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Nonlinear dynamics of Josephson Junction Chains and Superconducting Resonators

    Författare :Adem Ergül; David B. Haviland; Per Delsing; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Superconductivity; Josephson Junction; SQUID; Superconducting Resonators;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents the results of the experimental studies on two kindof Superconducting circuits: one-dimensional Josephson junction chains andsuperconducting coplanar waveguide (CPW) resonators. One-dimensionalJosephson junction chains are constructed by connecting many Superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs) in series. LÄS MER
