  1. 16. NK Cell Cytotoxicity at the Single Cell Level

    Författare :Ludwig Brandt; Björn Önfelt; Fredrik Bergh Thorén; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biological Physics; Biologisk fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Natural killer (NK) cells are innate immune cells with the ability to recognize and eliminate virally infected cells and cancer cells without prior sensitization. There is a functional heterogeneity between individual NK cells, where some NK cells are more efficient at killing cancer cells than others. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Interleukin 15 throughout murine natural killer cell biology

    Författare :Thuy Thanh Luu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Natural killer (NK) cells are innate immune cells that mount responses against virally infected, transformed and allogeneic transplanted cells. Equipped with cytolytic molecules and death receptors, NK cells mediate cytotoxicity against cells expressing low levels of MHC class I (MHC-I) or high levels of stress-induced molecules. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Primary immunodeficiency in southern Sweden. Strategies for diagnosis and clinical management

    Författare :Nicholas Brodszki; Lund Pediatrik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immune system; Lymphocytes; T-cell; B-cell; Antibodies; Complement system; Epidemiological study; Primary immunodeficiency; Severe combined immunodeficiency; Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this PhD project was to gain insight into the incidence of primary immunodeficiency (PID) in southern Sweden and to optimize diagnostic and treatment measures for these patients. We estimated the occurrence rate of PID in the pediatric population of southern Sweden during a period of 4 years and described the demographic, clinical and immunological characteristics of the identified cases. 4. 19. Early induced immune responses : regulation of dendritic cell and NK cell functions

    Författare :Robert Wallin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Dendritic cell; Natural killer cell; Cytoskeleton; cAMP; cytotoxicity;

    Sammanfattning : The evolution of the advanced vertebrate adaptive immune system has required co-evolution of sophisticated immune regulating systems that determine immune class of cytokines, antibodies as well as effector mechanisms used by killer cells. The co-ordination of these responses are likely to be carried out by dendritic cells (DC) under the influence of the tissue cells and innate immune cells resident in the tissue from where the DC originates. 5. 20. Triggering and mechanisms of natural killer cell mediated cytotoxicity

    Författare :Yenan Bryceson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Natural killer cells; antibody dependent cellular cytotoxicity; natural cytotoxicity; immunodeficiency; hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis;

    Sammanfattning : Natural killer (NK) cells are innate immune cells that contribute to defense against infected and transformed cells by target cell killing and cytokine release. In addition, data suggest that NK cells contribute to immune homeostasis and reproduction. LÄS MER
