    Sammanfattning : In the early 1860s three Swedes, Nils Wilhelm Mitander,Julius Ramsay and Gustaf Wittenström, were engaged by theBritish to build and run charcoal-based ironworks in India.These works, the Burwai Iron Works of the British Government inthe case of Mitander and the privately owned Kumaon Iron Worksin the case of Ramsay and Wittenström, were both to bebased on the most modern European technology. 2. 2. Quantum chemical studies of deposition and catalytic surface reactions

    Författare :Emil Kalered; Lars Ojamäe; Henrik Pedersen; Per-Olov Käll; Karin Larsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Quantum chemical calculations have been used to model chemical reactions in epitaxial growth of silicon carbide by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) processes and to study heterogeneous catalytic reactions for methanol synthesis. CVD is a common method to produce high-quality materials and e.g. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Multicomponent Alloying for Improved Hard Coatings

    Författare :Rikard Forsén; Magnus Odén; Naureen Ghafoor; Mats Johansson; Jochen Schneider; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Coatings are vital to protect and to increase the productivity of cutting tools in high speed and dry cutting applications. During the cutting operation the temperature may exceed 1000 ºC it is therefore necessary that the coatings withstand high temperatures. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Grinding effects on surface integrity, flexural strength and contact damage resistance of coated hardmetals

    Författare :Jing Yang; Magnus Odén; Luis Llanes; Andrew Gant; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The tribological and mechanical behavior of coated tools depends not only on intrinsic properties of the deposited film but also on substrate surface and subsurface properties – such as topography and residual stress state – as well as on interface adhesion strength. It is particularly true in the case of coated tools based on WC-Co cemented carbides (backbone materials of the tool manufacturing industry, and simply referred to as hardmetals in practice) as substrates. 5. 5. Magnetooptical properties of dilute nitride nanowires

    Författare :Mattias Jansson; Irina A Buyanova; Weimin Chen; Jan Eric Stehr; Hannah Joyce; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Nanostructured III-V semiconductors have emerged as one of the most promising materials systems for future optoelectronic applications. While planar III-V compounds are already at the center of the ongoing lighting revolution, where older light sources are replaced by modern white light LEDs, fabricating such materials in novel architectures, such as nanowires and quantum dots, creates new possibilities for optoelectronic applications.
