1. Crystallization of Metal Fluoride Hydrates from Mixed Acid Solutions
Sammanfattning : In this work crystal growth and nucleation of b-FeF3×3H2O and crystallization of chromium (III), iron (III) and nickel (II) fluoride hydrates from mixed acid (1-3 mol/kg HNO3 and 1-6 mol/kg free HF) have been investigated. The solubility of b-FeF3×3H2O has been determined in solutions of different hydrofluoric acid (1-7mol/ kg) and nitric acid (0-7mol/ kg) concentrations at 30, 40 and 50°C. LÄS MER
2. Mobile Newsmaking
Sammanfattning : The research reported in this thesis concerns the design of new and innovative IT support for mobile news journalism. News journalists often have to report events on topics that they do not know very well and with little time for preparation. News reporting is often conducted in the field, away from the stationary IT support. LÄS MER
3. Recovery of Rare Earth Elements from an Apatite Concentrate
Sammanfattning : Rare earth elements (REE) are a group of 17 elements including lanthanides, yttrium and scandium; which are found in a variety of classes of minerals worldwide. The criticality of the application, lack of high grade and economically feasible REE resources and a monopolistic supply situation has raised significant attention in recovery of these metals from low grade ores and waste materials. 4. Predicting Electrochromic Smart Window Performance
Sammanfattning : The building sector is one of the largest consumers of energy, where the cooling of buildings accounts for a large portion of the total energy consumption. Electrochromic (EC) smart windows have a great potential for increasing indoor comfort and saving large amounts of energy for buildings. LÄS MER
5. Recovery of Rare Earth Elements from spent Nickel-Metal Hydride Batteries from Hybrid Electric Vehicles
Sammanfattning : Rare earth elements (REE) are a group of elements that are of critical importance in numerous technological applications, including “green technologies” such as wind turbines and hybrid car batteries. When the criticality of applications is considered, problems in supply has brought the option of effective secondary resource utilization into consideration. LÄS MER
