  1. 1. Therapeutic alliance : exploration of the construct validity of the concept

    Författare :Annika Lindgren; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :alliance;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Repeated meta-analyses have established that there exists a robust association between therapeutic alliance and outcome at end of treatment; still, there is a lack of coherent theory regarding the concept and lack of agreement on how to interpret and understand research results. Further support of the construct validity of the concept is needed. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Regulation of insulin-like growth factor binding protein-1 (IGFBP-1) and implications in catabolic conditions

    Författare :Björn Lindgren; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis has studied the regulation of IGFBP-1 (insulin-like growth factor binding protein 1), which is one factor regulating the bioavailability of IGF-I with special interest how IGFBP-1 is regulated in vitro and in humans, especially in diabetes and catabolic conditions. The IGFBP-1 cDNA was cloned and used for studies in human hepatoma cells, HepG2, which showed that both insulin and IGF-I could decrease IGFBP-1 in the cell conditioned medium. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Respiratory tract infections, reflex apnea and sudden infant death : experimental and epidemiological studies with special reference to respiratory syncytial virus, Bordetella pertussis and sleep position

    Författare :Carl Lindgren; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Bordetella pertussis; Infection; Interleukins; Laryngeal chemoreflex; Respiratory syncytial virus; Reflex apnea; Sleep; Sleeping position; Sudden infant death;

    Sammanfattning : The seasonal distribution of Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) followed the prevalence of respiratory tract infections (RTI) when prone sleeping position was recommended, but this covariation has recently been attenuated. Airway infections in the young infant are known to produce respiratory disturbances. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Maintenance of genome integrity via activities of the cohesin network

    Författare :Emma Lindgren; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Correct segregation of sister chromatids is an important mechanism for keeping the genome intact. The cohesin complex holds the sister chromatids together from the time of their formation during replication, until separation at anaphase and is thereby mediating cohesion between the sister chromatids, essential for correct chromatid segregation. 5. 5. Immune mechanisms that determine the quality of antibody responses to vaccines

    Författare :Gustaf Lindgren; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Effective vaccines for many dangerous infectious diseases are still lacking. An improved understanding of the mechanisms that determine the quality of vaccine responses is essential to guide future attempts to design effective vaccines. LÄS MER
