  1. 1. Laboratory method for the study of moisture-induced waviness in paper

    Författare :Cecilia Land; Göran Ström; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; method; moisture; paper; paper web; wavelength; waviness; Cellulose and paper engineering; Cellulosa- och pappersteknik; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Paper that is subjected to moisture undergoes dimensional changes. It expands during moistening and shrinks during drying. When the paper is under tension between rollers, the effects are complex since shrinkage and expansion are restricted in the width direction. Waves can then appear on the paper web. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Baggy paper webs : Effect of uneven moisture and grammage profiles in different process steps

    Författare :Cecilia Land; Lennart Stolpe; Kaarlo Niskanen; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; bagginess; drying; calendering; grammage; moisture content; paper; profile; reels; softwood kraft pulp; storage; strain; tension; web; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : One of the problems encountered in paper converting is caused by the occurrence of "baggy webs", which essentially is when the tension profile of the paper web is uneven. In an area with low tension the paper is longer, which results in bagginess. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Influence of paper properties and polymer coatings on barrier properties of greaseproof paper

    Författare :Henrik Kjellgren; Gunnar Engström; Lars Järnström; Lennart Stolpe; Torbjörn Helle; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Greaseproof paper; Barrier properties; Gas barrier; Paper properties; Coatings; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Greaseproof paper has a dense structure and therefore provides a natural barrier against materials like fat and oils. The barrier is obtained by extensive refining of the pulp. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Strength Properties of Paper produced from Softwood Kraft Pulp : Pulp Mixture, Reinforcement and Sheet Stratification

    Författare :Hanna Karlsson; Luciano Beghello; Lars Nilsson; Lennart Stolpe; Öyvind Gregersen; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; paper strength; tensile strength; tearing resistance; folding endurance; fracture toughness; handsheet former; stratify; multilayer; multiply; reinforcement; refining; beating; abaca; glass fibre; polyester; lyocell; softwood; bond strength; Cellulose and paper engineering; Cellulosa- och pappersteknik; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : For paper producers, an understanding of the development of strength properties in the paper is of uttermost importance. Strong papers are important operators both in the traditional paper industry as well as in new fields of application, such as fibre-based packaging, furniture and light-weight building material. 5. 5. New methods for evaluation of tissue creping and the importance of coating, paper and adhesion

    Författare :Jonna Boudreau; Christophe Barbier; Ulf Germgård; Sverker Albertsson; Robert Pelton; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tissue; creping; paper adhesion; Tissue paper; creping; paper adhesion; coating layer; adhesives; Yankee cylinder; crepe structure; wavelength measurements; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The creping process and the conditions on the Yankee cylinder dryer are key factors in a tissue paper mill, and they therefore need to be kept under good control in order to maintain a high and uniform quality. To this end it would be valuable to be able to make on-line measurements of Yankee coating thickness as well as the crepe structure of the tissue paper. LÄS MER
