1. Methological advances in the examination of the dopamine system in brain
Sammanfattning : The dopamine (DA) system in brain has attracted considerable attention in neuroscience due to its involvement in fundamental brain functions and its postulated role in the pathophysiology of several neuropsychiatric disorders. Radioligand binding techniques in vitro and in vivo, such as receptor binding autoradiography and positron emission tomography (PET) have substantially contributed to our understanding of the DA system. 2. Studies of cellular pathogenesis in experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, I have studied antigen-specific therapeutic interventions of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) and aimed to understand the respective roles of different cell subsets in initiation and perpetuation of disease. EAE is a commonly used animal model for the human disease Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a demyelinating disease mainly affecting young adults. LÄS MER
3. Kreativitetens kännetecken : En fenomenologisk studie
Sammanfattning : Creativity is highly sought after in our society, but that is far from obvious what is really meant by it. Many researchers in the field of creativity stress the lack of clarity, and it is described as a divided felt. The aim of this thesis is to clarify the meaning structure of the phenomenon of creativity, i.e. LÄS MER
4. High-redshift active galactic nuclei and their environment
Sammanfattning : In order to understand the formation and evolution of local massive galaxies and to reveal the processes that engineered the tight correlations found between their supermassive black hole (SMBH) mass and bulge mass or velocity dispersion, the study of powerful, high-redshift active galactic nuclei (AGNs) and their environment is crucial. AGNs are luminous targets providing important clues to galaxy evolution, as their central SMBH is growing at high rates, which opens the opportunity to unfold how the growth of the black hole influences the growth of its host galaxy. 5. The environment of high-redshift AGN
Sammanfattning : In order to understand the formation and evolution of local massive galaxies and to reveal the processes that engineered the tight correlations found between their supermassive black hole (SMBH) mass and bulge mass or velocity dispersion, the study of powerful, high-redshift active galactic nuclei (AGN) and their environment is crucial. Observations of high-z quasars and radio galaxies suggest that these AGN live in overdense environment surrounding by star-forming Ly&alpha-emitters and submillimeter galaxies. LÄS MER
