  1. 11. Ankle sprain : subjective and objective measures of functional impairment and treatment

    Författare :Johan Leanderson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Ankle sprain; epidemiology; postural sway; muscle torque; muscle imbalance; proprioception; joint position sense; figure-of-eight running; sick leave; ankle brace treatment; functional instability; basketball; ballet; soccer; taping; Sickness Impact;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is based upon a series of studies were performed in order to provide more information about the etiology of late symptoms after ankle sprain, most often referred to as functional instability of the ankle joint. In a retrospective study of basketball players, the incidence of ankle sprains and the prevalence of late symptoms after such an injury were investigated. LÄS MER

  2. 12. From 2D to 3D Models of Electrical Conductivity based upon Magnetotelluric Data : Experiences from two Case Studies

    Författare :Juliane Hübert; Laust B Pedersen; Ari Tryggavson; Toivo Korja; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Magnetotelluric measurements are among the few geophysical techniques capable of imaging the structure both in the shallow subsurface as well as the entire crust of the Earth. With recent technical and computational advances it has become possible to derive three-dimensional inversion models of the electrical conductivity from magnetotelluric data, thereby overcoming the problems arising from the simplified assumption of two-dimensionality in conventional two-dimensional modeling. 3. 13. Foot-Ankle Joints Responses. Epidemiology, Biomechanics and Mathematical Modeling

    Författare :Chantal S. Parenteau; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; mathematical models; biomechanics; range of motion; ankle injury; injury mechanisms; ligament failure; center of rotation; ankle and subtalar joints; ankle fracture;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis is to acquire better knowledge of foot-ankle injuries because of their increasing importance in car crashes. Three approaches were used: epidemiology, biomechanics and mathematical modeling. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Biomechanical Consequences of Foot and Ankle Injury and Deformity: Kinematics and Muscle Function

    Författare :Ruoli Wang; Elena Gutierrez-Farewik; Eva Broström; Eriksson Anders; Toni Arndt; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to discuss kinematics and muscle function changes due to foot and ankle injury or deformity. The first study aims to characterize gait patterns of subjects with a common lower limb injury, ankle fractures. LÄS MER

  5. 15. The Auroral Large Imaging System : design, operation and scientific results

    Författare :Urban Brändström; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Space and plasma physics; Aurora; Artificial airglow; HF-pump enhanced airglow; Multistation measurements; Polar Stratospheric clouds; Radio-Induced optical emissions; Spectroscopic imaging observations; Tomography; Rymd- och plasmafysik; Space physics; Rymdfysik; rymdfysik; Space Physics;

    Sammanfattning : The Auroral Large Imaging System (ALIS) was proposed in 1989 by Åke Steen as a joint Scandinavian ground-based nework of automated auroral imaging stations. The primary scientic objective was in the field of auroral physics, but it was soon realised that ALIS could be used in other fields, for example, studies of Polar Stratospheric Clouds (PSC), meteors, as well as other atmospheric phenomena.
