  1. 1. BMP implants in bone formation. Studies in rabbits and rats

    Författare :Charlotte Jeppsson; Malmö Handkirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ortopedi; traumatologi; graft resorption.; Kirurgi; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; bone formation; bone graft; hydroxyapatite; collagen; bisphosphonate; rat; rabbit; titanium chamber; BMP; TGF-ß;

    Sammanfattning : Bone morphogenic proteins, BMPs, are a group endogenous proteins that are highly conserved through evolution. The amino acid sequences of about 15 different BMPs are now known and recombinant human BMPs are commercially available. Implantation of an individual BMP protein is sufficient to induce bone formation even at a subcutaneous site. LÄS MER

  2. 2. CSF biomarkers in idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus- Diagnostics and pathophysiology

    Författare :Anna Jeppsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus; cerebrospinal fluid; biomarkers;

    Sammanfattning : Idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH) is a disease of the elderly with enlarged ventricles despite a normal CSF pressure. Clinically, iNPH presents with gait- and balance disturbances, cognitive decline and incontinence. As the symptoms are reversed by shunt surgery, precise diagnostics is of essence. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Decentralization and National Health Policy Implementation in Uganda - a Problematic Process

    Författare :Anders Jeppsson; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; epidemiology; Public health; Uganda.; policy diffusion; policy translation; policy implementation; decentralization; health care systems; primary health care; health sector reform; Ministry of health; health policy; Folkhälsa; epidemiologi; Social medicine; Socialmedicin; samhällsmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : The Ugandan Government has aimed at creating a needs-based and cost-effective health care system. The means to carry out this aim have been 1) a decentralization of the health sector in order to increase lower-level responsibility, accountability, and participation, and 2) a strong national policy formulation capacity, facilitating needs assessment and cost-effective prioritization. 4. 4. Conceptual metaphors in learning and teaching entropy : adopting a cognitive semantic approach in science education research

    Författare :Fredrik Jeppsson; Helge Strömdahl; Tamer Amin; Roland Kjellander; David Hammer; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Science education; thermodynamics; semantics; conceptual metaphors; Naturvetenskapernas didaktik; termodynamik; entropi; semantik; begreppsliga metaforer;

    Sammanfattning : Over the last 20 years there has been an extensive amount of research on science learning conducted from a “knowledge-in-pieces” or “resources” perspective. One of the main goals of that research has been to identify and characterize available cognitive knowledge resources that can be productive components of scientific understanding. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Reliability-based assessment procedures for existing concrete structures

    Författare :Joakim Jeppsson; Avdelningen för Konstruktionsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; concrete; reliability theory; service life; assessment; monitoring; hydraulic engineering; Civil engineering; offshore technology; soil mechanics; Väg- och vattenbyggnadsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : A feasibility study of reliability theory as a tool for the assessment of present safety and residual service life of damaged concrete structures has been performed in order to find a transparent methodology for the assessment procedure. It is concluded that the current guidelines are open to interpretation and that the variation in the results obtained regarding the structural safety is too great to be acceptable. LÄS MER
