1. Sulphide mineral flotation : a new insight into oxidation mechanisms
Sammanfattning : Formation of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), an oxidizing agent stronger than oxygen, by sulphide minerals during grinding was investigated. It was found that pyrite (FeS2), chalcopyrite (CuFeS2), sphalerite ((Zn,Fe)S), and galena (PbS), which are the most abundant sulphide minerals on Earth, generated H2O2 in pulp liquid during wet grinding in the presence or devoid of dissolved oxygen in water and also when the freshly ground solids are placed in water immediately after dry grinding. 2. Sulphide Minerals: Surface Oxidation and Selectivity in Complex Sulphide Ore Flotation
Sammanfattning : Metal and energy extractive industries play a strategic role in the economic development of Sweden. At the same time these industries present a major threat to the environment due to multidimensional environmental pollution produced in the course of ageing of ore processing tailings and waste rocks. 3. Translational studies of syndecan-1 as angiogenesis inhibitor : from basic research to clinical applications
Sammanfattning : Malignant mesothelioma (MM) is a highly aggressive primary tumor of the pleura, associated with poor prognosis. MM is mainly related to exposure to mineral fibers such as asbestos. The diagnosis of MM, despite multiple diagnostic tools, is challenging and treatment options are limited. LÄS MER
4. Filament assembly and structural studies of intermediate filament like protein, FilP, in Streptomyces coelicolor
Sammanfattning : The cytoskeleton, known as intracellular connected filaments, has a prominent role in cellular behavior, motility, and stability. The following three major types of polymers have been characterized as cytoskeleton in eukaryotes: microtubules that are 25 nm in diameter, actin filaments that are 7 nm in diameter, and intermediate filaments (IF) that are 10 nm in diameter. 5. Time-accurate Turbulence Modeling of Swirling Flow for Hydropower Application
Sammanfattning : Hydraulic turbomachines have played a prominent role in the procurement of renewableenergy for more than a century. Embedded in the context of general technological progress, their design for efficiency and reliability has reached an outstanding level of quality. LÄS MER
