21. Provisioning Strategies for Transparent Optical Networks Considering Transmission Quality, Security, and Energy Efficiency
Sammanfattning : The continuous growth of traffic demand driven by the brisk increase in number of Internet users and emerging online services creates new challenges for communication networks. The latest advances in Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) technology make it possible to build Transparent Optical Networks (TONs) which are expected to be able to satisfy this rapidly growing capacity demand. 22. Adsorption, aggregation and phase separation in colloidal systems
Sammanfattning : The thesis presents work regarding amphiphilic molecules associated in aqueous solution or at the liquid/solid interface. Two main topics are included: the temperature-dependent behavior of micelles and the adsorption of dispersants on carbon nanotube (CNT) surfaces. LÄS MER
23. On droplet interactions and suspension flow
Sammanfattning : Micron to millimetre sized droplets, precisely generated or sustained in controlled environment, have great potential in myriads of engineering applications functioning as the basic element to assemble metamaterials, deliver drugs, host surfactant, reduce friction and damp turbulence. The interaction of droplets from pairwise to collective levels is the most important factor in controlling these processes, yet little is known about the detailed mechanisms in various nonideal conditions. 24. Hand injuries in young children
Sammanfattning : The proportion of hand injuries in Swedish children is the second highest in relation to other parts of the body. The incidence of hand injuries in these children has not yet been estimated. In addition, aetiologies, injury patterns and costs among Swedish children have not been presented on a regional or national level. LÄS MER
25. Competitive adsorption of macromolecules during emulsification
Sammanfattning : The adsorption behavior of macromolecular emulsifiers is important in the understanding of their functionality. Understanding of the adsorption behavior can ultimately enable us to control emulsion properties. LÄS MER
