  1. 1. Early Campanian mosasaurs (Reptilia; Mosasauridae) from the Kristianstad Basin, southern Sweden

    Författare :Johan Lindgren; Berggrundsgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sedimentologi; Sedimentology; vertebrae; Tylosaurus; teeth; Sweden; Mosasauridae; Kristianstad; Halisaurus; Clidastes; Hainosaurus;

    Sammanfattning : Marine strata of latest early Campanian age (sensu germanico) in the Kristianstad Basin, Skåne (Scania), southern Sweden, have yielded a diverse mosasaur fauna comprising six to eight taxa, including Tylosaurus ivoensis, Clidastes propython, Hainosaurus minor n. sp., Halisaurus sternbergii, Platecarpus cf. somenensis, Platecarpus? sp. 2. 2. Forest Development and Interactions with Large Herbivores

    Författare :Christer Kalén; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Växtekologi; Plant ecology; modelling; preferences; browsing; deer; forestry; succession;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis discusses aspects of feeding habits of moose (Alces alces) and their impact on forest development. The development of forage that is available to moose was studied by sampling the amount of edible biomass on pine and birch trees. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Celestial Orientation in Dim Light

    Författare :Marie Dacke; Funktionell zoologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; polarisation pattern; moon; polrised light detection; twilight; dim light; dung beetle; Zoologi; spider; vision; orientation; Zoology;

    Sammanfattning : The polarization pattern of skylight offers many animals a reference for visual compass orientation. In those cases when this optical compass is identified, the receptors involved are often confined to a small part of an eye built predominantly for other visual tasks. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Plant colonization of oak plantations - the interactive effects of local environment and land-use history

    Författare :Karin Valtinat; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nitrogen mineralization; Phosphorus; Plant ecology; Växtekologi; Soil acidity; Seed sowing; Dispersal limitation; Species diversity; Indicator species analysis; Functional groups; Succession; Understory vegetation; Land-use history; Temperate forest;

    Sammanfattning : In Europe, only small fragments of deciduous woodlands remain intact and species dependent on this ecosystem have declined. In southern Sweden, a shifting trend during the 20th century, with more afforestations on former arable land, resulted in new oak stands. These new stand are either on former arable fields or on continuously forested land. LÄS MER
