  1. 16. Molecular regulation of somatosensory neuron development

    Författare :Yiqiao Wang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The somatosensory system of vertebrates perceives and transmits a variety of information from both external and internal environments to the central nervous system where an integrated response is established leading to adaptive outcome. Specific classes of sensory neurons convey the information consisting of touch, muscle stretch, temperature, itch, and pain. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Deciphering ret signalling in cell biology and development

    Författare :Moritz Lübke; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The rearranged during transformation (RET) tyrosine kinase regulates a plethora of biological processes such as cell survival, proliferation and migration and is essential for the normal development of several organs such as the sensory, enteric and sympathetic nervous systems and the kidneys. After RET activation by its ligands several intracellular tyrosine residues are phosphorylated and serve as binding sites for adaptor proteins that activate different downstream signalling pathways. 3. 18. Immunological mechanisms in atopic dermatitis : clinical and experimental studies

    Författare :Maria Tengvall Linder; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :atopic dermatitis; Cyclosporin A; cytokines; eosinophils; lgE; lgE receptors; Pityrosporum orbiculare; patch test; skin biopsy specimens; T cells;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the study was to investigate immunological mechanisms in atopic dermatitis. Serum IgE levels are elevated in 80% of atopic dermatitis patients and CD4+ T cells and environmental allergens are known to be of importance in the pathogenesis of the disease. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Thermo- and chemosensitive properties of Transient Receptor Potential Ankyrin 1 ion channels

    Författare :Lavanya Moparthi; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TRP ion channels; TRPA1; ankyrin repeat domain; thermosensation; chemosensation; cold sensor; electrophiles; non-electrophiles; planar lipid bilayers; patch-clamp; fluorescence spectroscopy; mass spectrometry;

    Sammanfattning : The ability to sense and accommodate to an ever-changing environment is crucial for the survival of living organisms. Transient Receptor Potential (TRP) ion channels comprise a large superfamily of cation conducting membrane proteins that function as molecular sensors in diverse sensory processes including perception of light, taste, smell, sound, touch and temperature.
