  1. 1. An Isostatic Earth Crustal Model : and Its Applications

    Författare :Mohammad Bagherbandi; Lars E. Sjöberg; Martinec Zdeněk; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Crustal thickness; inverse isostatic problem; isostasy; isostatic compensation; Moho depth; Moho density contrast; downward continuation; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning :  The Mohorovičič discontinuity (Moho), which is the surface separating the Earth’s crust from the mantle, is of great interest among geoscientists. The Moho depth can be determined by seismic and gravimetric methods. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Glacial Isostatic Adjustment : Inferences on properties and processes in the upper mantle from 3D dynamical modeling

    Författare :Peter Schmidt; Björn Lund; Christoph Hieronymus; Laust Pedersen; Zdenek Martinec; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Observations of glacial isostatic adjustment (GIA) offers a powerful window into the properties of the Earth's interior. Combined with dynamical modeling of the GIA process we can use the observations to infer properties such as the elastic structure of the lithosphere, the rheology of the mantle and changes in the stress conditions in the Earth. 3. 3. Glaciodynamics, Deglacial Landforms and Isostatic Uplift during the last Deglaciation of Norrbotten, Sweden

    Författare :Mattias Lindén; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sedimentologi; Sedimentology; Geologi; physical geography; Geology; glaciotectonic; thrust stacking; deforming bed; ribbed moraine; Niemisel moraine; De Geer moraine; isostatic uplift; glaciodynamics; deglaciation; klimatologi; kartografi; marklära; Fysisk geografi; geomorfologi; geomorphology; cartography; climatology; pedology;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to reconstruct the glaciodynamics, deglacial landforms, isostatic uplift and to date the deglaciation. Glaciodynamics and deglacial landforms were focused on to provide a process and depositional model for De Geer moraine and Niemisel moraine and to reveal their internal and spatial relationship, based on detailed sedimentological and structural investigations. 4. 4. Computational modelling of hot isostatic pressing

    Författare :Ales Svoboda; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Material Mechanics; Materialmekanik; Datorstödd maskinkonstruktion; Computer Aided Design;

    Sammanfattning : The objective of this work was the development of a computer aided concurrent engineering system (CACE) for manufacturing simulation with particular application to hot isostatic pressing (HIP). The physical and mechanical phenomena connected with the hot isostatic pressing of powder metallurgical materials are analysed. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Recovering Moho parameters using gravimetric and seismic data

    Författare :Majid Abrehdary; Lars E. Sjöberg; Mohammad Bagherbandi; Pavel Novák; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :crust; gravity; mantle; Moho depth; non-isostatic effect; residual isostatic topography; stripping; thermal state; Vening Meinesz-Moritz model; Geodesy and Geoinformatics; Geodesi och geoinformatik;

    Sammanfattning : Isostasy is a key concept in geoscience to interpret the state of mass balance between the Earth’s crust and mantle. There are four well-known isostatic models: the classical models of Airy/Heiskanen (A/H), Pratt/Hayford (P/H), and Vening Meinesz (VM) and the modern model of Vening Meinesz-Moritz (VMM). LÄS MER
