  1. 1. Glaciodynamics, Deglacial Landforms and Isostatic Uplift during the last Deglaciation of Norrbotten, Sweden

    Författare :Mattias Lindén; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sedimentologi; Sedimentology; Geologi; physical geography; Geology; glaciotectonic; thrust stacking; deforming bed; ribbed moraine; Niemisel moraine; De Geer moraine; isostatic uplift; glaciodynamics; deglaciation; klimatologi; kartografi; marklära; Fysisk geografi; geomorfologi; geomorphology; cartography; climatology; pedology;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to reconstruct the glaciodynamics, deglacial landforms, isostatic uplift and to date the deglaciation. Glaciodynamics and deglacial landforms were focused on to provide a process and depositional model for De Geer moraine and Niemisel moraine and to reveal their internal and spatial relationship, based on detailed sedimentological and structural investigations. 2. 2. Glacial Isostatic Adjustment : Inferences on properties and processes in the upper mantle from 3D dynamical modeling

    Författare :Peter Schmidt; Björn Lund; Christoph Hieronymus; Laust Pedersen; Zdenek Martinec; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Observations of glacial isostatic adjustment (GIA) offers a powerful window into the properties of the Earth's interior. Combined with dynamical modeling of the GIA process we can use the observations to infer properties such as the elastic structure of the lithosphere, the rheology of the mantle and changes in the stress conditions in the Earth. 3. 3. Pioneer Settlement in the Mesolithic of Northern Sweden

    Författare :Anders Olofsson; Noel Broadbent; Ingela Bergman; Bo Knarrström; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Archaeology; Mesolithic; pioneer settlement; lithic technology; cultural context; chronology; glacio-isostatic uplift; lake-tilting; Arkeologi; Archaeology subjects; Arkeologiämnen; Archaeology; arkeologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the thesis is to cast light on the earliest settlement of northern Sweden. The starting point is lithic artifacts, which have been studied from a technological as well as a more conventional typological perspective (Papers I, II, and IV). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Late Weichselian and early Holocene shore displacement in the central Baltic, based on stratigraphical and morphological records from eastern Småland and Gotland, Sweden

    Författare :Nils-Olof Svensson; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; pollen; Paleontologi; Shore displacement; Land uplift; Paleobotanic;

    Sammanfattning : The glacial unloading and resulting isostatic land uplift have together with hydro-isostasy, eustatic rise of sea-level and geoidal changes, ruled the shore displacement of Fennoscandia. Within the Baltic basin, periods of damming and shifts of outlet further complicated the shore displacement during the period studied, c. 12,200-8400 BP. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Contributions of Satellite Geodesy to Post-Glacial Rebound Research

    Författare :Seyed Mehdi Shafiei Joud; Lars E. Sjöberg; Mohammad Bagherbandi; Martin Horwath; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Glacial Isostatic Adjustment GIA ; gravimetric GIA modelling; satellite geodesy; Gravity Recovery And Climate Experiment GRACE ; independent component analysis ICA ; Geodesy and Geoinformatics; Geodesi och geoinformatik;

    Sammanfattning : Glacial Isostatic Adjustment (GIA) is a global and long-term process in the Earth, which began 21.5 millennia ago, according to many ice history modellers. One way to understand the processes of the Earth’s interior, the crustal deformation, and a key correction to estimate the climatological parameters is obtained by studying GIA. LÄS MER
