  1. 1. Structural studies of the surface adhesin SspB from Streptococcus gordonii

    Författare :Nina Forsgren; Karina Persson; Inger Andersson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Streptococcus gordonii; X-ray crystallography; surface adhesin; dental plaque; structural biology; Structural biology; Strukturbiologi; ODONTOLOGY; ODONTOLOGI; odontologi; Odontology;

    Sammanfattning : Surface proteins on microorganisms that build up the oral biofilm are key players in the formation of the biofilm. Antigen I/II proteins are surface adhesins found on virtually all oral streptococci and share a conserved multi-domain architecture. These adhesins bind surface components on other bacteria and on host cells. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Structural, Dynamic and Functional Studies of USP14 : A Proteasome-Associated Deubiquitinating Enzyme Regulating Protein Degradation

    Författare :Johannes Salomonsson; Maria Sunnerhagen; Alexandra Ahlner; Eleonore von Castelmur; Pau Bernadó; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Ubiquitin-Specific Protease 14 (USP14) is a proteasome-associated deubiquitinating enzyme (DUB) involved in regulation of protein degradation and recycling of ubiquitin. USP14 consists of a Ubl domain connected to a USP domain via a flexible linker. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Small angle scattering as a tool to study protein structure and interactions

    Författare :Zuzanna Pietras; Maria Sunnerhagen; Eleonore von Castelmur; Cy Jeffries; Lars-Göran Mårtensson; Annette Langkilde; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis uses small angle X-ray and neutron scattering (SAXS/SANS) to gain structural and functional insight into the molecular regulation of critical life processes in prokaryotic and eukaryotic species. The presented studies highlight the strength of combining low-resolution structure determination with biophysical and in silico modelling methods to extensively characterize proteins and their interactions. 4. 4. Protein and lipid interactions of mammalian antibacterial peptides

    Författare :Yuqin Wang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Gene-encoded antibacterial peptides are multifunctional effector molecules and play an important role in host innate immunity. Upon stimulation, the mature active peptides are released from inactive precursors. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Purification, structure and function of bioactive peptides

    Författare :Elo Eriste; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Peptides are vitally important molecules and many evoke cellular responses. The completion of several genome sequencing projects has revealed a number of new genes. LÄS MER
