  1. 1. Conflicting Logics? : Implementing Capacity and EU Adaptation in a Postcommunist Context

    Författare :Ulrika Jerre; Statsvetenskapliga institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; child protection reform; Romania; East Central Europe; postcommunism; conditionality; EU adaptation; islands of efficiency; implementing capacity; state transformation; Political and administrative sciences; Statsvetenskap; förvaltningskunskap;

    Sammanfattning : It is generally recognized that the EU accession process has profound effects on state transformation in the postcommunist applicant countries. A key problem of postcommunism has been a weak ability to implement public policy. This study explores how efforts to fulfill EU conditionality may influence implementing capacity. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Allochthonous and autochthonous carbon sources of lake bacterioplankton

    Författare :Emma Kritzberg; Enhet akvatisk ekologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Marinbiologi; limnologi; akvatisk ekologi; aquatic ecology; marine biology; Hydrobiology; bacterial community composition; bacterial growth efficiency; bacterioplankton; carbon subsidy; dissolved organic carbon; limnology;

    Sammanfattning : Organic substrates for pelagic bacteria are derived from dissolved organic carbon (DOC) in the water column that originates either from primary production from within the lake itself (autochthonous), or import of organic matter from the terrestrial watershed (allochthonous production). This thesis addresses the utilization of allochthonous versus autochthonous carbon (C) sources by lake bacterioplankton. LÄS MER

  3. 3. On cooperation and efficiency in the construction-related wood industry

    Författare :Anders Bystedt; Staffan Brege; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Träteknik; Wood Technology;

    Sammanfattning : Multiple studies have raised concerns about the construction area and issues such as low quality, high costs, low profitability and lack of innovations. Major parts of the processes are project based and characterised by one-of-a-kind setups in which the unique characteristics come from production setup, site, and temporary organisations. LÄS MER

  4. 4. RECOMBINANT PEROXIDASES AND XYLANASES: I. Cloning and production of a peroxidase from horseradish II. Characterisation of functional domains of thermostable xylanases from Rhodothermus marinus

    Författare :Eva Bartonek Roxå; Bioteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; amorphous cellulose; xylan; CBD; carbohydrate binding domains; insect cells; Baculovirus; catalytically active; recombinant horseradish peroxidase; HRP-n; PASC; beta-glucan; Biotechnology; Bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Part I: Plant peroxidases are useful in many areas of application e.g. as tracer enzymes for clinical applications and in biosensors as well as for industrial purposes like in waste water treatment and bleaching processes. A gene encoding a new, neutral horseradish peroxidase isoenzyme, HRP-n, was isolated. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Island-based Polygeneration Systems : On the Feasibility of Solar-Biomass-driven Distributed Concepts

    Författare :Moritz Wegener; Anders Malmquist; Andrew R. Martin; Antonio Isalgué; Natasa Nord; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Polygeneration; Distributed energy systems; Biomass; Solar energy; PV-Battery; Small-scale energy systems; techno-economic analysis; Island-based systems; Energy Technology; Energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The colossal risks and challenges posed by climate change require innovative solutions that must fulfil energy service demands sustainably. The concept of small-scale, biomass-based polygeneration (SBP) is one such technological approach, which optimizes locally supplied fuels to provide several energy services like electricity, heating, cooling, potable water, and/or bio-chemical products.
